Mercedes SLK 230K Kompressor

Wow.

Just nipped to the local Sainsburys, on the way back coming up fast, a

Mercedes SLK.
I was busying myself moving in and out of slow movers on a wide road (almost three lanes wide but marked as two) and he wanted to pass at 100mph. I had a Leon Cupra 20v in front and Im on his rear bumper.
Off the next roundabout, Leon takes 1st exit, Im going straight on - I clicked from 1st to 2nd, optimum green light lit on both, but missed third (got stuck in the gate), rev limiter screeming at me, car stalling, I look right and hes level with me, a quick nod, I fumble into 4th and hed passed - blast!
A Merc SLK 230 Kompressor, black.
Off we go upto 130mph, then brake hard (brow of hill coming up way too fast) upto the next roundabout, we take in 2nd almost flat out, car in the lane, he passes it with me in tow, right up his backside. Then upto 100.
Quick stop to let a car turn right, then race on.
Through gears, maxing out in all of them, into 5th, 110mph and countryside full of tight turns and blind spots. After 10 mins of me still pestering him at 120mph, we enter a 30mph area - he brakes and indicates as hes arrived home, and waves in the rear view at me. Thanks Mercedes man.
The best race Ive had since buying the car in May 2002. Made my day - even if he did pass me (through my mistake ;))

I an SLK 320 (normally aspirated) on my tail along my favourite B-road at home in Wales - "Five Mile Lane". I think either the handling wasnt good or the driver wasnt up to scratch as it was all over my back bumper on the first straight, but then I gave it some and obliterated it through the twisties. I kept letting him catch up and then leave him again on the next set of bends.

Anyone else have that problem with fluffing the 2/3 gear change? Ive done it twice now, makes you look a reet twonk :D

ive done it in dci numberous time now

i wonder if this is another one of renaults problems along with the sunroofs and drivers airbag?

i had one go past me once on the carriage way, he hit some sheet water and nearly went in the side of me! needless to say i stopped at the next little chef for a quick no.2 :)

lol, i think the second to third thing is just a driver thing, lol, happens to all of us i think, regardless of car. my mate done it when chasin a 360modena in his scooby lol, think its the pressure and all that hahaha, lol, notice how it only happens when ur racing or giving it some! lol, but, who knows? may well be a renault ting aswell?

I only got a 1.2 dynamique, i find sometimes it dont like to come out of 1st if you put the revs up too much, well not much at all really i stay in first till it just gets moving then i have to change or it likes to stick.

I get 3rd to 4th wrong a lot as I find I can change this one with only a tiny bit of clutch (lazy, I know!). But sometimes I give too little clutch and it goes crunch!!

maff i get the same problem, sometimes i have to forget 2nd and put it in third instead! Youre right though i think it doesnt like high revs for that shift.

the 1.2 does have a gearbox "issue". Took me about 3 month to get used to the 1st to 2nd change. Still cant do a good un on the strip.

I would have thought that you would have made mincemeat out of an SLK 230K (they only have 190ish bhp) and are pretty slow really ;)

My mum used to have one. Supercharger sounds poo but really loud, embarrasing! The handling was pretty wooden, there was poke but it wasnt very fast. Looked stunning in black with AMG wheels though.
