Messed Up my hand brake :@:@:@:@

in my mk 1 clio i took the old handbrake handle off and the old gaiter go to fit a new one and the hand brake dont work. the button pushes in but when i pull it up i dont hear the clicks and it dnt lock in to place it just goes back down plzzzzzzzzzzzz help

where is it located and how do i go about fixing it

:S i had to have a new handbrake when i did this....

what did they say was broken

Fixed it yaya took it apart and put a new spring in it to spring the button back out and it works fine
