Messing about on the M40 Junct 1-10

  Meg on pistonheads £6995

Boring place at 10.30pm, so.... kept resetting the Trip Computer... Did you know?

at a steady 40mph in top a DCi 80 does 99.9mpg?

@ 50 = 85mpg, 60 = 73mpg, 70 = 66mpg

Then I got bored. @ 110 it does 34mpg!!

I surprised a VTR that had passed me 10 minutes earlier when I was doing 40!!

I bet a 172 would be about 5-50mpg?

Ive not managed to get my Cup average below 26 - no matter how hard I try (This is over a distance of a couple of thousand miles of varied driving, but nailing it whenever I can) Ive never tried the other way and taken it easy to see the maximum!!

I think the clios are all frugal on fuel - its a major benefit - especially accentuated on the powerful ones where an equivalently matched car performance wise, will probably be 15 MPG if driven in the same manner!!

Itd be nice to flick a switch and have DCi economy in traffic looking at the figures above!! (Youre the type to just go for a quick blast round the block as well are you?)!!.......just a couple of junctions of the motorway, back down my favourite road or three and home......total 50 miles ish LOL

Yep!!

I wanted a 172, but do up to 700 miles a week - I worked out the fuel at £1300 a year in a dCi, about £2500 in a 172!

Plus Group 3 insurance with a speeding conviction and claim is only £350 FC with Class 1 Business!!

It might do MORE mpg when I get it Superchipped!

I have to say I think the 172 is wicked on the petrol, I get £30 - 300 miles, and thats mixed drving.

In my old Focus that was a 2.0 out of £40 quid  I would be lucky to see the best part of 220 miles from a tank, even on a long trip 250 was like.... WOW...;)

The 172 is better than most cost its light - our old VTR did barely 30mpg.

my mate used to have a T5 as a company car when they first came out - he used to love showing off by getting the fuel trip into single figures!!
