metalic/ratteling sound in 197

my 197 has been making a funny noise for a while now , well constant for the past month and a half. when i hit 6k rpm in every gear also in neutral.
so took it to renault as i still have warrently and they had the car for 2 days and got back to me and told me it was from behind the glovebox, apparently there was a loose bracket, which sounded odd to me :S. any ways they gave it back and i was driving home and no noise . in the morning on the way to work started makng the noise again .
so now they say they gona have it for around 3-6 days and there gona take the whole dash out and road test it like that to find the noise.
anyone else had this problem (197 or normal clio 3)

Does the noise get more high pitched as the revs rise? Coz mine does this as soon as it comes on cam. The garage thought it was a faulty engine mount at first but its still there so i gotta get it booked in again. Its so annoying!

I dont get anything in neutral tho.

I was thinking it was a fecked rev dial?

nope defo not ehaust.
its from behind the dash (thats where it sounds like its coming from), well inside the car. i thought it could be a gearbox issue bu they reassured me it wasnt probs to much of a big job and they cant be bothered.
and no the noise dont get any higher it stays the same.
its just really (x10) pissing me off now

oh lol, they told me it defo wouldnt be engine/exhaust related.
they said could be a gearbox problem (like 2.5% chance) or dash (97.5%).
tbh i couldnt careless as long as it gets sorted

I know how annoying rattles can be. On my 182 everytime I hit the 5k revs 'kick' I get this constant rattle from behind the dash somewhere!! I took the dash off myself to see if I could fine it and test drove it with a mate that way to try find it and I couldnt!!

Could you not reach up behind the glovebox have a wiggle of whatever is behind there?? Could be worth a go..

it went to renault and they have already removed the glovebox and test drivin it like that and it was sorted, its going to them on friday so hopefully it will get sorted
