Right Pipex have fucked me off, so i'm ringing them later for my MAC code

Whos the best to go with at the moment? I currently pay 14.99 a month for 8mb unlimited download, just been having a look at www.bethere.co.uk they dont look too bad and heard decent thinks about them, anyone recommend anyone?

I have been using Virgin for the past 8 months not had one problem and I have a REALLY crap line at home as well. Old man uses them as well. I hammer the shite out of my connection and the old mans on Newsgroups no nasty letters, no service problems

They pissed me off because I rang them 6 months ago for a mac code to leave and at that time was paying 20 quid a month for 2 mb

They did me a deal to keep me and said 14.99 a month for 8mb although have still been charging me 20 so im leaving unless I get my money back plus free months £££££

f**k it might just leave anyways fancy a change

Joel if you have access to an LLU ISP then it's simply pointless considering everything else.

Take Jay above (and no offense obviously) but he's paying £18 for a capped 8mbps or less service and I'm paying the same for a completely uncapped 24mbps service..

Whats an LLU ISP?

Technically -

Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) enables operators to connect directly to the consumer via BT's copper local loops and then add their own equipment to offer broadband and other services. This process involves operators accessing BT’s local exchange buildings to connect to BT’s network of copper lines which connect them to homes and businesses.

The phoneline will be owned by BT but the data aspect of the SMPF (Shared Metallic Path Facility) will be tied into the LLU ISP's DSLAM at the echange rather than BT Wholesales. In layman's (your) terms it basically means the ISP has more control over the service they provide and lower operating costs which are then passed onto the customer.

Traditional IPStream ISP's like Tiscali, Plusnet, AOL and so on are effectively just middle men and all they do is resell a product provided by BT Wholesale. AS a result they're all limited to the same speeds (currently "up to 8mbps"), all charge pretty much the same and all have a cap of some description.
