Just to drop in some forged standard sized pistons and new rings on a honed set of bores would probably only add 500 quid to the bill.

Plus the price of the pistons then there is labour. If I was to do that I may as well go the full hog and have the engine fully forged, balanced etc which doesn't really appeal to me because of the price. If I did have the money on the other hand then it would be a different story haha

When you have the rods fitted you need to remove the OE pistons... No extra labour required ;)

I build a lot of engines mate so i know what is involved. The 500 quid I mentioned was 400 for pistons, 100 quid to gap the rings and hone the bores, the rest of the labour is the same.

I'm not saying you don't know your onions Chip but personally I would just get the engine fully forged if I was going down the route of changing pistons etc. I won't be running mega power to warrant changing pistons either. I did mention I would like 300 bhp but in reality I probably won't get that and would be happy with 285/290. I'm not about chasing figures anyway more about how the car drives.

What are you on about with fully forged? What do you think that term actually means?

To me Chip a fully forged F4RT engine means having the crank balanced along with the bores machined to accept bigger pistons and other bits & pieces which are beyond my mechanical knowledge of cars and is clearly your expertise. This was recommended to me by Paul from RS Tuning when I enquired about forging my engine.

What's your interpretation of a forged engine Chip?

Its still forged wether you overbite it for bigger pistons or just use standard sized forged pistons and just rehone your bores.
Rebore is ultimately fresher but if your block is in good order then for the sake of the extra 500 quid just forge it on standard sized instead.

Food for thought chip and I suppose it does make sense as you say. How do you rate wossner pistons?

Lots of people getting good results on them, Ive only personally used them in a couple of engine builds but have done so and been happy with them.
