Yup. It's happened to my sisters Corsa twice and a work mates Ibiza once.

I know the RX8 is a b**ch for flooring on a cold engine, but didn't really think it happened for a normal engine

Actually I had a call out to a Ford Galaxy 2.3 Zetec which had done just this just after Christmas.... pulled the plugs and sure enough the bores were totally saturated with fuel. Unplugged the injectors and put aside for testing whilst the controllers were scoped and everything was fine. Cranked it over a few times to expel the fuel from the bores then left it to breath for a few hours to get rid of the rest. Re-assembled, restarted without any fuss and all was fine - Kept the vehicle in overnight and it did it again the next morning (once more, flooded the cylinders).

Stupidly I didn't check the live data the day before as I'd just assumed it was a faulty injector but when I saw -40 being reported as the coolant temp, and it was around -1 to +1 degrees outside, I doubted the reading - replaced the CTS and problem solved. I guess the ECM was trying to compensate for a seriously cold start and over-enriched.

Just because it's new doens't mean its gonna be fine... most cars are at there most unreliable when they're within the 3yr warranty period. I saw an '11 plate Corsa D going down the road puffing out blue smoke yesterday... guess he was heading to Pentagon in Derby to have words, assuming he made it cos it was like the Army was on manouvers following it.

Get it to the nearest dealer and make the most of the warranty.
