Mixing R888 softs with medium compound?

  172 - 249bhp @ the wheels
I've got a set of R888 SG's (soft compound) and have booked a trackday, but not sure the front ones will last a full day of abuse. Is it safe to put the GG's (mediums) on the front, or am I asking for trouble?

I paid £100 per tyre for these when I got them, but the price has now gone up considerably, so looking at mixing, or another cheaper alternative with equal or similar levels of grip. I've seen people are switching to Hankook RS2's, but they look more like a road tyre with the tread pattern, so not sure these will be suitable for my car... any recommendations?

That sounds fine to me, at least the rear will have "most grip" front the softer tyres in theory and the fronts will last longer and stand up to a trackday better than the softs would on the front.
