Mk.1 Clio 1.9D vs. 1.2 petrol - pros & cons?

.... in terms of pure running costs?

If I round it up and say my mileage is approx 40 per day - with a mixture of urban and some motorway mileage - is one better than the other?

The only 'luxury' option I'd really like is power steering - not sure if that was standard anyway?

Any ideas of major servicing issues to consider with either the petrol or oil-burner? Especially as a lot of them have 6-figure mileage now.

I'm looking at such a car in terms of 100% pure function - to get me from A to B, day in - day out. Not bothered of the colour, spec, no. of doors, etc.

Group 4 insurance is a bonus too! :)

Cheers,
D.

Get the diesel

IMo get the mk2 phase 1 car there nice plus they do a turbo one if you want a few more hp and there a bigger car and safer

yeh a mk2 ph 1 1.9Dti, remap to 112 hp and 235 nm which would aid fuel consumption and also help on the motorway.
