Ive got to admit my Cup suffers from the same problem, take it easy and get it booked into a dealor to get looked at, only problem is most dealors will come back and tell ya there is nothing wrong, the useless w**kers
I got the same when I put in normal 95ron unleaded mixed with half a tank of optimax this weekend cos I couldnt find a shell station. Only ever use optimax since I got the car from new. Going straight back to optimax when its nearly empty.
Optimax keeps its octane rating for 6 months (98.6 is the MINIMUM rating for this fuel) and as most of these fuels deteriorate after 6 months anyway.... (i got my info direct from shell, just email them like i did).
For octane booster i would look at http://www.scoobymania.co.ukwww.scoobymania.co.uk as they do millers octane plus for 22.20 for 10 bottles (best value i can find) so you could try that?
I get confused with all the different explanations of Optimax. Some say its refined at its octane, some say its regular 95 with octane boosters and cleaning additives. Some say it deteriorates back to 95 RON within 40 days from refinement and Tony says that its 6 months and 98.6 minimum.
Personally I feel that my car is even more unresponsive than usual whenever I fill with Optimax. Ive tried it time and time again and as soon as I change back to Optimax, it feels lifeless. BP SUL gives it the most life, hence thats what I try to use. I really wanted to feel something from Optimax and usually if you want something enough you even convince yourself that its there, but it actually feels worse.
Im glad it works for so many people, but I steer well clear of it now as Ive tested it enough to know that it doesnt work for me! I had put it down to living in quite a small town and the Optimax not being cycled quick enough and losing its octane (hence I believed the 40 day theory, but I dont know what to think now!)
