Mk1 clio tuning



  Clio mk1 1.2
what engine wants can i do to my 1.2 clio before i engine covert it, can i get much more power out of it

IK and an exhaust mate, i had one and my full system and IK gave me about 8 BHP, which is a lot on a 55-60bhp standard car!! what year is it?

Ive got a 1.2 before I put the standard cam back in it was running 89bhp but that cost around 2k to get it to that! It depends how much you want to spend, why your doing the mods (track or road), what phase and model! I started with a phase 2 65bhp beast.

Do you know what sort of power you were getting before you put the standard cam back??

Yeh it was running 89 with uprated cam! Dont know what its running now but its going into hillpower beginning of may for chip and remap etc so will see then, ive put a standard airfilter on now as well. Im hoping for around 80-82 bhp after hillpower.

Cool im hoping for 90bhp+ but wanna see my car on an rr first before I make assumptions if you know what I mean lol - it says on your profile your from East Sussex?? im from Hastings - are your nearby??

Yeh thats cool, I was hoping to get over 100 but looked into it and itll prob cost another 2k and as a student that sum of money is off the scale! Im from plumpton green - near brighton and burgess hill. I think its a half hr journey to hastings?

Yea not to far half hour sounds about right depending on the traffic :) did you do anything to your fuelling to get to that power? just asking as D7f's run lean and you can get a fair few bhp from them by uprating the fuelling..

Mine seems to be running to rich and is over fueling a lot? Im hoping that hillpower will sort that out to (decat doesnt help!) Ive been looking at putting a 1.8 laguna trottle body on but if I do the inlet manifold has to be bored out to make a difference! That costs! Ill eventually put another cam in maybe a 280degree? Im going to put better air feeds on the standard airfilter, prob do some more headwork but at the moment they are just dreams, it may reach 100bhp though!?

That would be nice :) shame I cant do anything with my tb unless I go custom as its an MPI :/ I'll get there when i cross that bridge. I need a 16v fuel pump and a power boost valve to limit it to 3.5 bar (may try 3.8 at a push) if don't have a power boost valve I would recommend one to try and stop you running rich. The fast road cams I have are either 260 or 270 degree - not fitted to the car yet. What degree were your orignal cams?? Also have you done anything to your exhuast manifold??

I cant get a power boost valve as mines only a spi! The cam I had before was 250 i believe. Im guessing yours is a phase 3 then??? I havent done anything to exhaust manifold as cant afford to get a custom one made up as no one makes a ready fit one?!

Yea mines a phase 3. You can get them ready made I got a 4-2-1 manifold on mine, just needs fitting correctly as too close to the gear shifter under the car, which im doing wednesday.

If you go to "Tuning Shop", "Clio 1", "Abgasanlage", "Fächerkrümmer" then scroll down to the one that mentions 1.2/1.4 Eco and thats the one you want I believe

Where is that and how much? Did it give a noticable increase? OOOOH im really interested now!

With postage you will be looking at around £300 - £325 depending on postage. With the standard exaust ive noticed an improvement and the revs freeing up more (only other mods on my car are de-cat and k&n panel filter with custom cold air feed pipe) I havent managed to test it properly yet but theres definatly a difference. http://www.zippyvideos.com/8841397224568066/100_0235/

Should be doing some 0-60 vids next week. Doubt its as fast as you think I dont think its even hitting 70bhp yet lol Will post the vids up once they have been done. You car looks pretty smart and tidy btw :)

im curious, where did you get the uprated cam for your clio??.. i would be interested to get some sort of price for my 1.4

Ive got a place near me, little shop which deal with heads only, they do anything. Ive got a 1.2-I paid 250 for the cam(they fitted when I did my head gasket) Then had to get the engine retimed. Prob 350 in total

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but I'm after a manifold for my 1.2 mpi, also some cams, what manifold do I need from that website as there's 2 different ones for a 1.2? Also are these engines mappable/ chip? Cheers
