Mk1 V6 Clio steering wheel material?

Car  Clio V6
Hi,

I'm in contact with Snappy to get my MK1 Vee wheel re-trimmed as original, however I need to source the material, so can anyone tell me where I might be able to get this?....I know it was Alcantara type material ( it's all worn off now so a bit hard to tell ) but was/is it the same material as the door panels/original seats?

Cheers,

Jim

theres a project thread on here somewhere where a guy stripped his seats for the material- I cant remember what one it was but it looks really good

Buy a PH1 back seat, strip it and then send the cloth to Snappy.

It's made of neoprine, which is like rubber. It was not alcantara.

I got a re trimmed one from some dude on here a fair few years ago, mine's leather now.

Whilst its top workmanship, a better solution and miles better than a scabby wheel... Whats in that picuture is not the same material or colour as the original wheel.

As in neoprene ( wetsuit stuff )?...are you sure, I've had my Vee since new 13yrs now & the wheel is original but in a poor state. I can't remember exactly what it was like when new but do remember it had a fuzzy texture to it much like the seat & door panel Alcantara, but neoprene?

It wasn't textured. It's just like rubber.

I've had mine for about 7 years now, and still have the original wheel (In basically mint condition, not on the car though) but I won't sell it.
This is what mine looked like on the car,

Ok, that clears that up then, my memory must be fading in old age as I thought it was textured. Will go for Alcantara re-trim if I can get some suitable seat material. Thks cat171.
