when i was going to trade in my Y-reg ph1 172 in sunflower yellow (59k on the clock, 14k on the engine) for a 182 (full price), i was offered 5.2k trade in...

I know bubbles thats what I was affraid of, had one garage offer me 5.5k that is obviously the going rate. Maybe could push for a bit off the Mk2 they had it up for 10k but its now 9k maybe get them down to 8.5k and my car?

Loving the liquid yellow 182 by the way bubbles!!! Big massive :D

Hehe thankyou...

I sold mine privatly in the end, as i bought the 182 on Friends and family (11.5k) and the trade in price that was offered was 4.2k (a bit of a kick in the teeth when i bought it for 7.5 at a renault garage last september!)

Sold mine for 5.6 in the end..

The ph2 is gorgeous though, loads more toys..

Ive got a Monaco Blue Ph2 and am very glad I got the colour, but would have to ask whether its worth the price difference to go from your 172. It looks like the difference could be about £3k+, even if you sell privately.

Obviously youd get the balance of the warranty, better spec and a nicer interior - but you have to ask yourself whether its worth the extra!

Personally, Id consider strectching to a 182 - because the difference in drive between all the 172/182 variants is minimal, but maximised from Ph1 172 to 182.

Cheers for your thoughts Ben and fair point mate, maybe I should be looking at a 182.

My way of thinking is that you could well get £6k for your low mileage 172, sold privately.

Youd probably get a brand new 182 for around £12-13k nowadays.

Thats £6k difference, but at least its for a new car - whereas youre looking at a minimum of £3k to change to that Monaco Blue 172. I love my Monaco 172 and think everyone should want one too, but this makes more sense to me!

I wouldnt say go for a 182 if you didnt already have one, since a 172 is probably better value - but if youve set your heart on a change, this is a good way to go IMO.
