MK2 Clio 172 Suspension

My brother has got a new one and took me out for a blast to show it off, awesome power, brakes well, absolutley spot on. Apart from when we went round corners, OMG! It wallowed, leaned and felt totally unsafe, as if the back end was on the limits even at low speeds. Im used to my Saxo and 306 that both have Bilstein suspension all round and can attack corners at virtually any speed. Just wondered if anyone can recommend the ultimate setup for a 172? Dampers and springs upgrading or coilovers....

Has anyone on here changed their setup? If so what results did you get?

Thanks

Dan

Alot of people have gone for the Eibach Pro-Kit springs, makes a good difference on the handling over standard. A few other people have gone for coilovers. I am happy with the Eibachs at the moment, good value too at around £120.

Try doing a search for suspension and you should find alot of useful information.

Thanks for the reply, do they lower the car or are they just stiffer? If they lower it theyll probably wear out the standard dampers quicker and I cant see him going for that.

They lower it around 10mm so not much at all but it definitely makes it stiffer going around corners, I am happy with the outcome as are all the other people who fitted them as far as I know. Not seen anything bad mentioned about them.

Yep, very happy with my eibachs.. they have really tidied up and downfalls of the standard 172 suspension and they give a subtle but nice drop.

Nice one. Do you recommend a supplier?

And thanks for not taking the piss out of me for not owning a Clio Sport. Makes a welcome change from other car forums :)

What does fitting something like Eibach springs do to your warranty?

Ive been in several cars with Eibachs fitted (not Clios though) and always been impressed. But worried that warranty will be voided by changing to aftermarket springs.

You can get them from K-Tec or Demon Tweeks aswell as lots of other places. I got mine from DT and ChavyBoy fitted them for me, only a few hours job.

I didnt see that didnt own a Clio ! That changes everything ! Pugs are sh*te ! LOL ! Just kidding mate ! We are a friendly bunch here...... most of the time !

;)

AGMitch, it will void your warranty probably but the springs look the same as the existing springs. I had my car serviced yesterday and they said nothing about the new springs.

you can also fit eibach sports (stiffer than the pros). I have them with koni adjustable dampers and theyre great.

Someone sent me a link to a ebiach price list and that said 50mm drop on the sports and 20/15mm on the pro. I probably read it wrong but ive lost the link now. What is the difference between the two anyway?(apart from the drop)
