Dont mean to sound like a tosser but the mk2 1999 clio is it an 8v or a 16v the garage i bought it from said it is a 16v then people i know afterward i bought it said its an 8v.

could be either.

open the bonnet and have a look lol. 16v has a large grey engine cover. 8v just has a solid black non-removable one.

Just checked and its an 8v. Is there a big difference between the two.

The 1.2 16v has the same power as a 1.4 8v iirc so not a lot of difference think the 1.4 16v has about 10bhp more

8v has 60bhp i think and the 16v has 75bhp, to be honest its probably the difference between slow and nippy!
