Mk2 Ph1 dual optic problem

Posting from iPhone so please forgive mistakes.

Fitted these following the guide, pretty happy but two questions.

What light is supposed to be illuminated as headlight? Closest to the centre of the car or the further one?

In the guide on here it says that all clios have the fuse space available in the fuse box to add a fuse so that both lights can illumnate? Well mine doesn't? :-(

When I flash what I think the high beams are, the other lights don't go out but when I actually click them on the other lights turn off.

Please help, cheers

thats correct, the lights closet the middle are the main beam, they have the dome shaped lense, the others are full beam, flash the lights the main beam doesnt go off, click full beam on the main beam goes off.

So I've done it all right? Cheers, for some reason I thought headlights were supposed to stay on whilst full beam came on? Ah well. So the headlights are in the same little "chamber" as the headlights? (just to be sure)

One last problem... I can hear the adjusters moving but it doesn't seem like the beams are moving up and down at all??? :-(

the main beam is the HB3 bulb, the one that twists in in only a certain way, if thats wat you meen? and I dont have a clue about the adjusters mate, other then that, sounds like its all correct

The guide is wrong. They don't all have the correct fuse wiring for them.

Have you tried re fitting the adjusters? They need to 'clip' in properly with the lense.

s**t think I've got it the wrong way around then. Still
without Internet posting from iPhone, but when I get home
I'll make a diagram to try explain. That's pant
about the guide being wrong and there being
no fuse point!! So on all your mk2ph1 sport
owners cars do your headlighs stay on when
you fully click on high beam?? I'll have to mess
with the adjusters tmrw morning.

Just found apicture of a ph1 with the lights on a d yes it turns out i do have it the wrong way around. This could answer why the adjusters aren't working, the wrong lights are being adjusted! Oh dear!!

If you're running the full beam as headlamps then that might explain why the adjusters don't work. The adjuster only works if the headlights are turned on

The adjusters are working, you can hear them moving, and when you clip them out, the little thing is moving, but when I put them back in place they have 0 effect on the height of the headlight.

Ok just to make sure i have what i have done correct so far......

Diagram time....

This is what illuminates when I turn my regular dipped beam headlights

This is what illuminates when I flash the high beams (as if you were letting someone go)

This is what illuminates when I pull the light stalk towards me until it clicks (activating permenant full beam) at this point i think the headlight should be on too??? But I have no idea how to achieve this?

The dome shaped lense is your normal beam, the one on the left of the picture is your full beam/dipped, on mine when I flash my lights the normal beam stays on aswell as the full beam, when I click full beam fully on, normal beam comes off, hope that clears a lilttle bit up?

Yeah cheers it does a bit, I thought I had most of it right now, only thing you and I both have wrong now couzens is that the normal beam is going off, in the guide it says that there is a fuse to stop this from happening which can be fitted to all clios, although this is not the case and it seems most do not have thhe space for it.

ANYONE got ANY idea about why the adjusters aren't working????

FIXED!!!

If anyone has the problem of their headlights not adjusting even when the adjusters are in place, this can be solved. PM me if help is needed.

Yeah i'm really happy, cheers for the lights man, and for the passenger ride  spent tonight manually getting them level in morrissons car park and for once i'm blinding no one!

Erm basically.... I had to take everything apart and out again *sigh* but.....

When everything is unplugged, and you remove the rubber from around the main bulb, you are able to freely move the headlight unit up and down , and looking into where the adjuster goes, the little piece the adjuster is supposed to "click" into also moves up and down.

Soooo... holding the light unit (at the point you've uncovered) and ensuring the clip for the adjuster is poking out as far as possible then engage the headlight adjuster, and you hear a little click. Its really easy to do, but unless you knew you had to hold the inside of the light unit in place, its near impossible to get the adjuster to "click" in.

*huge breath* (you did ask)

When I flash my full beam then I only get the full beams come on unless I turned my headlights on

With the headlights on then the full beam and the headlights come on

And I know this for sure as my main beams are HIDs ;)

i have the same problem with full beam. And dont have the fuse to get both lights on when i click the stalk. But i installed a relay into the wiring to activate the full beam when dipped beam is on. for some reason my dipped beam has 2 positive supplys. 1 for when its just dipped beam. And another that is also for when full beam is activated. hopes that makes sence

I may have to get a bit of a better explanation off of you sometime soon, if you could post some pictures up or PM me them, that'd be great. Otherwise MOT time could be a bother.

pictures of the wiring? no point lol i coverd mine with tube and hid it lol. But i can try and draw a diagram later. have a look if your dipped beam bulb has 2 cream coloured wires going to it.
