mk3 Lowering Springs, quick question

Car  1.2 TCE
Hi.

I have a mk3 TCE. At the mo it has standard suspension, carzone bodykit (i have already taken a good ear bashing about having a bodykit so no more PLEASE.lol.), and 17's.

I have decided to ignore all my worries about warranty, re-sale etc and get it lowered.

I'm only thinking of lowering 35mm-ish, but... apart from the fear of my skirts touching the floor do i need to worry about anything else that could come with changing the springs. Mechanically, not insurance etc.

Look forward to your replies.

It would shorten your shocks life time. In my expirience, most standard shocks have factory tolerance for shorter spring up to -25 to -30mm. Everything over that is not recomended, shocks will not work well and could even leak.
If you want to lower it pass that point it would be best to have aftermarket shocks, like koni or such, with shorter springs like h&r -40mm.

ok thanks.

so up to 30mm ok. anything else be prepared for trouble!!

I'm assuming you know your stuff so thanks.

oh and btw i wouldnt worry about warranty...renault now cover shocks (even mine that had had lowering springs on them) upon customer complaint.

30mm. the offside rear started to leak so i had it done at the dealer when i was in for a service. It was a really quiet time for them so they just decided to replace it they told me.

the reason is though i live in the middle of nowhere, and until 6 months ago the road up to my house was terrible, potholes that were 3/4 inches deep and travelling up it 2 times a day wasnt helpful.

youll be fine
