Oh yeah, balls, forgot to delete the original 'paste in error'. There's nothing there that's confidential though.

Just thought I'd flag it, thanks for the heads up on smarty though. Just ordered the 4gb SIM for the gate controller, unlimited minutes and texts means I'll no longer be charged every time a takeaway man comes to the house 🤣

Roaming was the big deal for me going to Europe a handful of times a year. When I spoke to EE just before Christmas they offered me roaming package free of charge for being a loyal customer but I declined and carried on with my old deal which started before all the operators changed their rules when we left the EU. The reason I don’t take it up is year on year if have to argue getting roaming for free again and for the data I’m on for £22 a month including roaming, is a no brainer

My company pays for my EE contract S21U, with insurance and BT Sport on the TV, £60 a month and 60GB data

When i rang up for the S23 U it was the same price without BT and less data?!?!?!

I'll wait another month or so and try and leave and see what they say.

I've got this for my son but you have to go via a backdoor.

Just taken a sim with Smarty for £8 a month & 24gb data. 30 day rolling too so can increase/decrease that whenever I wanted or jump to another deal whenever.

They use Three network which is great where I am but I have heard mixed reviews about them tbf.

I doubt these cheap networks using others. I had a Plus net sim, for my son, that used EE and I was on EE. He never bad reception and when I rand Plusnet they advised some mast was down and they don't use all of the Network?!?!?

I used to be skeptical of them a bit but never had issues. I used Voxi for ages back when they first came out and targeted themselves towards younger audiences with the whole free social media data thing and ironically they were somehow better than Vodafone who's network they use.

Switched to Vodafone on a contract when I got my S21 after using Voxi for about 18 months, and it is categorically the worst reception I have ever had in my life. I'd get full 4G signal at home but never seen above 5mbps. 3G was faster than 4G was somehow. Moaned about it a couple of times and got nowhere with it other than them confirming it wasn't an issue with the phone or the sim card, so just lived with it. On the move outdoors it was OK ish but even then getting upwards of 50mbps was rare. It was like being transported back to the days of using WAP internet on an old Nokia at times lol.

I’m currently on EE £22.85 pm at 160GB of data sim only. Will take it over £26 end of the month with the price increase, it’s not too bad considering the data too

Figured I'd update this from what I found from talking to O2, I always just got my phone upgrades paid monthly because it's 0% interest, figured it was pointless paying for it outright and I'd use some credit. When I've been into the O2 shop that's the way they pushed me down too so didn't think much of it.
I spoke to someone from O2 customer support to figure out what was going on, basically they give you a completely different set of options for the airtime which are vastly more expensive compared to SIM only. No free lunches I suppose and this may be industry standard, but I felt a bit ripped off.
Fortunately I can void my O2 contract by paying off what I owe on the phone and then switch to a vastly cheaper SIM only deal, from O2 or someone else, which is the plan when I get paid.
What I save will almost pay for half an iPhone, between now and when I would've paid off the device at my current rate.

Just rung Vodafone to see about an upgrade.

I found a deal on uswitch that was £134 down £47 a month for 100gb over 24 months (was a Vodafone contract through 3rd party company).

Best they could do was £139 down and £58 a month for 25gb. She said the reason they are higher was due to some phone care package that they offer. She also said that if I took the new contract through a 3rd party I could risk losing my exiting number, as sometimes you can’t transfer a number across if it’s with the same mobile provider.

I'm now due an upgrade. Checked on Vodafone and for the same deal I'm on now, it's £71 a month for a pixel 7 pro.

Upgrade with carphonewarehouse for same phone is £49 a month.

What is it with these companies?!

The biggest problem with a lot of the phone companies now is that they separate the cost of the phone and data.

Make it look like a good offer for the phone until you realise you have to bend over to add a package on that’s half the price on sim only.

A guy I know said this when I was having issues with 02.

I’ve got a 13pro that I bought outright, with dual sim 1p mobile (EE) 30GB for £12.50 and O2 £8 for 30GB.

Have to have dual sims as EE data doesn’t work at my place of work but O2 does. But O2 doesn’t work anywhere else.

I’m 3 months into an 18 month contract with o2. Can’t wait for it to be over. f**king shite, barely get signal anywhere, let alone 5G, even in a city centre.

I’ve never been on a network so bad, but my work is next to a O2 5G mast so it’s amazing there, but nowhere else.

  R5gtt, 182, volvo...
I checked my Voda upgrade the other week and they wanted 36months on the lastest iPhone, 100gig of porndata, can’t remember the monthly. £50 probably

I can get the same phone, cheaper monthly and 24 months from Voda..

Do people really fall for this? I take offence at this kind of stuff, I’m such a sht customer they wanna dry fk me for 3y and make me pay them.

I’m just gonna go sim only again..

With Vodafone

Yep, still 36months… 3 years of the yearly interest being slapped on will see those months increase £10-15.

This April I got £7 added to my contract.. with a sim only I’d simply have sidestepped that cost..

£7 is a lot of money, that’s a packet of fish fingers in 2023

I negotiated a SIM only deal when 4g with unlimited data was a fairly new thing so they were ££££ after ages in the phone I had a plan which was about £60 but they had put through discounts, so my bill looked like
Plan £60
Upgrade discount -5
Upgrade discount -£7.50
Loyalty discount -£10
Loyalty discount -£2.50

A few years later when plans had all dropped, they phoned me out of the blue and said they could do me the same plan for less money as I was on a plan that was being done away with. Saving me a tenner a month at £25 pm over the current £35 after my discounts. So I accepted.

I noticed one day on my online banking it was months since I had paid my EE direct debit, went and checked online and they had left all the discounts on so every month it was bill at £25 then discounts of -£25 coming off, I got about 8 months of no bill then a price increase came so I was paying £1.10 a month for a year then it went up to £2 ISH.

I got away with it for 4 years before they just sent me an email saying login and choose a new deal before the end of the month or going onto a default plan 😂

The best way to do it nowadays. I'm awful at saving so just get the phone on a 0% interest finance.
I disagree to be fair, lots of deals are cheaper for 2 years than it is to buy the phone outright.

E.g. S23 Ultra 512gb deal on contract is £1133 total cost over 24 months with 100gb data pm

The phone on it's own is £1400.. (512GB model)

Buy a nearly new phone. Have a look on avforums there’s always deals about, then go sim only.

The S23U is only £1400 if you don't try though.

Currently at Samsung with £150 trade in of any mobile - and this is one of the poorer deals of late.

I made multiple posts in that thread from that post (maybe before, but definitely from then) - think @davo172 got his remarkably cheap but it was still cheaper through totum & cashback around the same time.
