mobiles and shite battery life these days

i remember my 6310i not needing to be charged all year (ok ok maybe 3 weeks or so) but every phone i look at now seems to have a standby time of less than 7 days one i spotted was 2 days !!!!! i mean whats the point you might aswell have it fixed to an electrical socket ffs my k750 is bad enough

grrr rant over lol

chill pill mate. I think battery life has improved. I used to have a nokia 5.1 and had to carry 2 batteries around as the charge would last a day if didnt use it. Less if I did.

I want an oldskool moto startac501, now they were cool!

CHarger next to your bed, charge it when sleeping.

One thing though, on old phones when they ran out of batt they would still have a bit of charge left so you could access your phone book. New ones just die and you can't do anything.

My new Nokia N73 has a far better battery life than the k800i it replaced. The k800i would last for 1-2 days max with everyday use, the N73 is currently 3 days since last charge and has only just dropped one power bar from full.

maybe not all are bad then ah well i shall just soldier on with my k750 with its dodgy joystick as non of the phones seem any good

I agree with McBunny though, they are proper shite these days.. maybe it's a Sony Ericsson thing but mine has to be charged every night and all it gets used for is calls/txts, dont use the internet on it or the bluetooth ever. useless

It may be something you already know, so forgive me if that is the case,

Charging batteries before they are flat, gives them a "memory" that reduces the amount of use you can achieve between charges.
You should try to let the battery go completely flat and then charge it fully up with the phone switched off, at least once a week.
This clears the "memory" effect and should improve things.
There are battery conditioners that do this, but they are probably not worth the cost of buying them given you can do the above.

FWIW

My brothers k800i doesn't usually last more than a day, sometimes not even that long. He's not a heavy phone user so maybe newer SE phones do have battery issues.

Re: mobiles and s**te battery life these days

Only certain types of batteries are affected by 'memory' syndrome.

Yes thats right, NiCad batteries are prone to it whereas NiMH batteries are less prone and Li-Ion batteries are not affected.

I'm surprised that the SE phones aren't lasting long - my old T60(?) used to last for a week and that was only teeny.

My current pile of s**t V600 won't last a day if I use it

I think the thing to do is make sure that you follow the instructions when you first get a battery - i.e. give it 12-16 hours on charge to ensure that it's able to run at max capacity (or whatever doing that does... lol)

So 7.3 days is a bit optimistic then ?

My first mobile would last from 9ish in the morning till 4pmish just on stand by. If i used it that would reduce. My slime line battery would last about 3 hours. Just enough on a night out lol

My SE P910i, which i have owned for quite some time now, obviously uses a fair bit of juice, but mine can easily last from Friday morning until sunday evening without charging, with daily use.

It has a Li-Polymer battery, and i'm guessing isnt affected by 'memory' as i charge it every time i go to bed, even if it doesn't need it, i like to keep it topped up.

If you're having battery problems, then what you could do is purchase a new genuine battery (not some fake ebay job), and give it a full charge. Your phone will then be like new again.

I don't think they're that expensive either. Then with the old battery, if you find the +ve and -ve terminals, and connect them together with a resistor for a few days, this will clear the 'memory' it has accumilated. Once you've done that, give it a full charge, and hey ho you also have a spare! :)

^ You can get official SE batteries for about £5 on ebay, most start at 99p. I've not had much of a problem with my k800 it will last 4days with average use. Not as good as some of the older phones though as it has a bigger screen + I use the camera. My T68 lasted for a week easily.

this is the reason i went out and bought a nokia 6020. All i need a fone for is calling and texting someone. Why bother with all these other features. My battery last for 1 week.
