It upsets me that you have a turbo'd 172, an engineering feat in itself, but dont know what oil to put in it lol ...

5w40 fully synthetic in winter, something a little heavier like a 10w50 in summer/warmer months, or for track days

A good 5w-40 synthetic is ideal, if you want best performance and protection then the ester based jobbies such as the Silkolene Pro S, Motul 300v, Redline, Millers CFS and the Gulf Comp.
