Moving house and Sky

  Not a Clio
We've had Sky tv for 2 years now and will be moving house soon. If we get the place we're currently looking at then there is no dish up. Do Sky charge you for setting up a new dish?

Their website doesn't say and I don't fancy being stuck in a telephone queue to find out unless I have to.

Sky charge £65! Say you'll cancel and they should cave in and do it for free.

You can always take your dish with you. Its only a half hour job to put one up.

Or do what we did and cancel at the old addy and sign up in your mrs name and get a cheep sky + box.

We rent and the dish here was up from when the landlord had sky and as she's moving back in she'll be wanting it again.

Can you buy the dish on it's own? The Mrs's dad is a tv engineer and electrician so he could fit one, might even be able to get us a dish come to think of it.

Unfortunately the Mrs has had Sky in the past so I guess she wouldn't be seen as a new customer? Can't say we'll go to Virgin as there is no cable where we're going.

How many boxes do you need installing? If its one box and its a standard dish on the wall jobby I will do it for £50?...

It would be one box and one dish. If the Mrs's dad can do it then he'd do it for free though so we need to check first. Thanks for the offer though. Is it just something you know how to do or are you an ex Sky engineer or something?

My dad and I have our own business installing sky and aerials etc etc...

No worries though mate, if you decide you want us over were only in Cannock/Stafford so just give me a bell: 07932010420.

If your old man does it for you bare in mind that to line the dish up "properly" you need a meter really although you can do it with a sky reciever.....

I assume your price includes the necessary equipment? Any guarantees? The house we're probably moving into is in Cannock.

Mate it would be all brand new equipment (obviously your using your box). And if you did have any trouble down the line we would come and sort it (we never have to go back to our jobs) ;)

So where in Cannock are you moving?

Well we're renting so as long as we're accepted which we should be as we met the landlord today and he's happy then the house is in Heath Hayes, just round the corner from one of the schools, forget the name though.

Note: For anyone who read/replied to my venting thread, the landlord gave us our 2 months notice to leave the day after! Lucky I didn't pay for a new vent!
