Mrk 2 Phase 1 Oil Reader

On my phase 1 clio the oil reading comes up full when I start the engine when its cold. If Ive been driving a while, turn off the engine, and start it again I lose three naughts (or whatever they are). Is this normal or am I low on oil? The dip stick level is just below the full mark.

The oil level sensor is in the sump, once you start the engine the oil will start to be pumped around and so the reading will drop. To get an accurate reading, always check with the engine off and if it has been running, give it a few minutes for the oil to drain back into the sump!

Thanks for the info Chris and Ill try checking it with the engine off after a drive.
