Much diffrence between 172 and 182?



  rover 25 gti 160bhp
would like to know this guys, from my point of veiw the 182 is quiker tho ? or was it the 182 model was heavier so they have to add 10bhp to match the older one ?

Normal 172 against normal 182 there is barely any difference in my opinion - the 182 might just edge it, but barely. They do look nicer though in my opinion. 182 with cup packs is prob the way forward if you want a car with toys and handling - the 172 cup is marginally quicker in a straight line, but hasn't go much in it - has cheap seats, no aircon, no abs, no xenons etc...

My opinion? Get a 172 on coilovers. I prefer the 172 for looks, don't like the 182 exhaust. For 90% of people, the handling is no different. A good 172 will be quicker than the average 182. And (bar RB), the best colour are 172 (monaco, flame red).
