Muhammad's 182

  Clio 182
Hi,

I bought my 1st 182 at the end of February after selling my x-type and being stuck with a 1.2 clio.

I've had a couple of clio's a 1.5 dci 90 and most recently the 1.2. Missing the power of the jag, i decided to buy a 182.

Made a trip down to lymington from Leicester to have a look at a couple. The garage had a few and seemed to be selling lots on autotrader.

Saw the Arctic and impulsively bought it.

Here's how it looked when i got it home...

Excuse the crappy pictures, it was covered in dust and had been raining when i viewed it.

Was informed by the garage that it had both cup packs, it came with fsh and both belts done last year within the last 2k.

So swapped the stereo later that day

There was a noise coming from the exhaust which i had been informed by the garage was a slightly bent heatshield, turns out the previous owner had thought it a good idea to weld the exhaust to the supports without hangers so inevitably it snapped

Had that corrected.....

Then the headlights were looking sorry for themselves so gave them a bit of tlc

Driving home from work one day the brakes decided they'd had enough so i got in touch with George as everyone was recommending him and his service was second to none

It got treated to hc front disks Renault rears n brembo pads all the way round the calipers were given a fresh lick of hammerite yellow while i was at it

Wouldn't normally go with yellow but they seem to be growing on me behind the black wheels

At this point i realised that the front grill wasn't sat right and the drivers side washer jet wasnt working, the windscreen washer jets were pretty poor too...

Quick trip to ECP left my wallet a little lighter but working windscreen washers

Took the bumper off to sort the grill...

While it was off i stripped it completely to find the washer piper was trapped between the grill, sorted that treated the plastics and gave the bumper a once over woth the rotary

By far one of the most stone chipped bumpers I've had but from afar it doesn't look too bad

After putting it on i decided to give the car a quick wash and seal with some zymol wax i had to hand

I fitted a c2 aerial as the old one was battered and falling to bits, inspired by Daniel's Arctic thread.

Got some cheapo mats from ebay with blue edging

Carbon wrapped the dash strips as they let the inside down

That's about all I've done so far but will be looking to do the following:

Full interior / exterior detail and paint correction

Black bullets with yellow highlights for the lettering keeping the black and yellow theme going?

Paint the plenhum black with yellow lettering

Getting a major service

Refurbing the alloys as the dealer said they had been "refurbed" which meant rattle can over the existing scratches etc very poorly

Maybe a Snappy wheel re-trim

Other than that i want to just enjoy the car without spending too much money

I think i over paid for what it is, never viewing a car in the wet again or trusting a dealer.

Bought a warranty but haven't received the docs and neither have a got the v5

Contacted dealer but they washed their hands of the matter.

Turns out its not got the cup suspension as described either but still handles well, compared to the barge that was the x type

I've learnt a fair few tips about the RS while on here so wanted to say thanks and thanks for reading

Any tips or suggestions are welcome! It'd be cool to meet a few members from Leicester to check out their cars etc

So where is the v5, have you got the green slip part? And what warranty was given? Please don't say a thirty day one.

I've got the tear off green part but haven't had the new one from dvla. I'd put it down to being lost in the post but the warranty docs haven't arrived either.

It's a 1 year warranty with a third party company, probably isn't worth the paper it's written on i know but oh well

They said that as i got the exhaust and brakes done myself instead of travelling the 180 odd miles to them they won't do anything.

So bit of an update...

Took the car down to Mick @ diamond motors for a service changed the plugs, oil, filters and gearbox oil as well as brake fluid.

Car runs much better now.

Decided to clean up a little bit inside and out, look what i found...

Found all sorts of random crap, sweets n a cig lighter as well as some mouldy food?

Turns out the previous person to take the trim off didnt remember there were already holes for the screws

Anyway found the leak it was the stops for the boot lid so cleaned them up and sealed them

Also found this quality wiring, the person decided that renault connections werebt good enough so soldered the wired directly to the bulb holder melting it while they were in there... So need a new one

While washing the car my Renault sport badges may have fallen off

So next week hopefully get my exhaust sorted and then get some cooksports on. Eventually give it a deep clean.

Thanks for looking and as always all comments are welcomed

Lol that should have been in the previous post.

Had the cat / manifold gasket changed but its still noisy! Need help with that, any suggestions welcome.

On a more positive note Graham at custom chrome is a genuinely nice guy and knows what he's doing. Would recommend him if anyone needs exhaust work doing.

I haven't done much on the car recently as I've been a little busy but i was getting annoyed by a whine when cornering and then it started on the straights too!

Bit of poking around and i figured it was the pas pump!

So that was changed along with the aux belt as Mick @diamond told me the car had the wrong one on when i bought it.

uploadfromtaptalk1445340553604.jpg

So the whine has gone but there is a bit of a whistle coming from what seems to be the alternator.

Any advice on what it may be would be awesome
