My 182 is here!

Arrived at 7:30 this morning. Needs a bit of a wash but took it for adrive first (get the priorities right).

Im so pleased I had the checklist! - and laughing at Renault quality.

Theres no front splitter on the car.

The emissions sensor is now on.

The throttle seems to stick at about 3/4 opening but I assume something like the carpet is getting in the way.

Obviously not going above 4 - 4.5 k but it seems to have a fair amount of pull.

Also hadnt seen a black car, and with the sun being out the gold mica really stands out.

Ill probably wash it later (well maybe not) and take some pics.

the "notch" near the end of the throttle is for the cruise control override.

Do a search and more info will come up.

but just to confirm, its not a problem its normal.

yep - 7:30.

Having 2 small kids mean youre up anyway. They actually said it was coming between 7 & 8 - 1st car off th transporter on its way to Newcastle / Scotland!

Coco - The notch seems quite pronounced - much more than Id expect for a mechanical or electro switch - but Ill have a trawl & a look at the car later.

Should I be using 95 or 98 Ron?

Cheers.

98 ron is recommended.

Most people put a minimum of super unleaded (97 Ron) but normally use BP ultimate(97.8) or optimax (98).

Good luck with the splitter, mine was missing also, they didnt know it came with it, muppets! They couldnt find the part number so I had to get it for them and they ordered it but it has to come from france and it took 6 weeks!!!!

Mine was delivered by trailer also which meant that I dont live near the dealer that messed it up but in the end I got them to contact my local dealer and ask them to fit it for me which they did and they sent me the splitter by courier to have put on.

Apparently you can do it yourself, but the problem is getting under the car as its so low so really need a hydraulic lift to get under.

I use Optimax in mine and nothing else, so cant compare with other fuels but the car was desinged to run on 98 so thats what im sticking in it, no point in cutting costs on the petrol in my opinion, its a performance car.

Dave,

So does the splitter come with the car for the dealer to fit? Do they also fit the rear spoiler?

Do you remember what the part number was so I can help them along?

Ill get a local dealer to fit it as well as sort out the other "opportunities".

yes the splitter comes on the back seat for the dealer to fit in the PDI as if it was on on the transporter it would rip it off as they took the car off apparently.

The rear spoiler is pre-fitted.

Will have a look for the partcode, its a while ago now

Many thanks.

I know I got a good deal but I thought they might have fitted my mats as well!

Also the first new car Ive bought in a long time where I didnt get a full tank.

Never mind, minor irritations. Im off for a blat later on a regular run I used to take the elise on so should be interesting to see how if fares in the twisties.

I dont think anyone fits the mats these days - some owners apparently regard the massive pin hole in the carpet as vandalism!

And hows it compare to the Elise then?

nice colour the black/gold.

The mats were fitted to mine with the plastic clips to avoid leaving big holes in the mats, the clips only have a thin spike that goes thru the carpet and it doesnt leave a mark in the carpet.

You will be able to fit them yourself though easily enough.

looking forward to the pics.

Im taking it fairly easy and running the car in pretty much in line with the book. It impossible to guage just yet.

What I did notice (or my wife did) was that I was smiling when I got out....something I havent really done since I got shot of the elise. Thats must be a good thing.

Overall, minor niggles aside Ive been very impressed with it. For ~12.5 k its hard to fault really.

No squeaks or rattles yet (which I did expect). Car has good low down shove which is useful, and it seems well controlled froma handling perspective.

My 3 yr old son int too impressed though - its not blue !

Oh forgot an update on the faults.

After 35 miles the emissions light has gone out, but it does smell a bit "rich" though - maybe thats just the newness of the CAT?!

Dealer is trying to locate the splitter (very apologetic & helpful), but if not I can take it to my local dealer in Chesterfield and have one fitted at their cost.

Will get the single shot window programmed when in at the dealer for the splitter. Its working single shot upwards (when fuly open), just not downwards.

....and wheres the reversing sensors ? :)

  Ford Fiesta

doesnt have reversing sensors as standard. my dealer had them as an option dunno if this applies to the 182 though.

i didnt think mine was one touch but tried again and gave it a really quick "flick" and it is actually one touch.
