My 182 on Rolling Road.

  Clio Sport 182
Hello
I'm planning to put my 182 on a rolling road this Saturday at JKM Performance in Portsmouth (VW/AUDI/SEAT specialist). Has the nick name as hart-breaker as is really strict on numbers.
Now the big question. What should I expect to see? My car is completely standard.

Standard 182's make in the 160's (flywheel adjusted) usually.

If the guy is quite strict though he might only give you the power at the wheels, as technically thats what he's actually measuring.

If you go as a regular customer I think is 65 quid. I paid 35 because is a rolling road day organized by Skoda forum and my mate has put my name down.
As I used to have an A3 1.8T and a TT and I was servicing my cars there I would be able to have a chat with JKM to organize our own rolling road day if the members here want.

Do they check your fuelling and give you an AFR graph or is it literally just a willy measuring contest???

If I remember correctly is few years since my last dyno there yes you get an air/fuel ration graph as well. But I will let you know Saturday when I will get my print outs

If we have the interest could someone from the moderators tell me if you are happy for me to organize a rolling road day for our forum?

All my 182s that have been on the RRs have made in the 160s. You might have a freak and make in the 170s, but dont hold your breath.

The days of me putting cars on RRs is long gone - nothing but bad news. Total waste of money IMO.

I'm back from dyno. Can i ask from the people hat they can extract useful info from the graphs to tell my what they think?
Graph 1 - Power/Torque
Graph 2 - Power/AFR

Shove some injector cleaner through it and get it remapped.

172 is a really good number for a standard car :up:

I'm going to say it's already been mapped looking st the fuelling
That's why I asked as the AFR doesn't look stock to me.
I'd agree, mine made 173 at Surrey RR with a remap.

I cant comment. the only that i can say is that the guy that i bought it from he didn't mention anything about remap. i still have his original advert. The owner before him was a female and had it from new.

Do you get the kick at 5000rpm?
Yes i feel a kick around 5000-5100 rpm

Freak engine, theres a few around :)
It's just I've been reading up on RS2 manifolds, some not making what mine made without. I just don't know whether it'd improve mine or not? Lol. Don't want to spend and it be a waste of time.

How's your car now? Got it back?

It might crack 200 with one mate, it certainly won't make it slower.

No not got mine back yet bud, awaiting updates :)
That is the plan. Think I'm gonna RS2 it for the ease. After what's happened with yours I'd vw skeptical about going boosted without serious supporting mods.

If I was to do it again id go sc or tb :)

Its not all about speed and problems.
Aye. Thinking about the RS2. I see issues with the TB as well which worries me and the charger kit seems a bit I dunno, temperamental? With rebuilding them etc etc. The RS2 seems bolt on and worry free so thinking about that. I'm hoping for around 200 bhp tbh.

If you get a new charger unit it should last at least 50k, its not that expensive to refurbish either iirc, id go sc mate for the money compared to rs2, much more gains for not much more £££

You're talking about rotrex yeh? Rotrex state the unit is not serviceable.

Yes mine was brand new and unused. Internal oil pump failure resulted in it pumping the oil out and not drawing it back in. Paul at rstuning said he'd had a few do this.

My turbo build did 7-8k mikes, popped the camseal out lost 4l of oil now I'm left with 1k plus bill.

How far did you drive it without the cam seal in!!? They don't fire oil out under main gallery pressure.

Megane pistons are still liable to cracking ring lands, even more so if different fuel has been used to when it was mapped. Do it right do it once imo. Forged build or not atall.
