They come with a sat-nav type mount, big sucker on the windscreen type thing that bolts onto the top of the unit. It takes an SD card (that you have to buy separately). I think 16gb or 32gb is the max. At 720x480 it records around 100mb/minute, but it keeps cycling so it just records over the oldest stuff if you keep it running. Also when you plug it into lighter socket it powers on/off and starts and stops recording with the ignition.

How long does it record for before re-looping back to the beginning ?

i think that any vids worth posting will only come up once a month to be honest so i'll probably start a new thread for any others. this one has generated five pages of discussion so any new videos posted would get lost.

however i do have a jpg of something i came across yesterday... v.lucky people, barrier did it's job..

imagine driving along the opposite carriageway in the fast lane and seeing that suddenly appearing over the barrier!

Had this happen 3 times in an 8 mile journey the other day, on a weekend and all very old drivers.
It's a 60 road and they either pulled out far too late (didnt even look in one case, i saw he hadnt, and was only looking left for some reason, so slowed right down).
Or pulled out and didnt bother to speed up. Then just carry on doing 30/40 with alot of clear road ahead.

Re-test at 90 years old should have been in place that day.

the camera has other uses- a road rage deterrent! i overtook a car today and he took particular exception and sped up behind me flashing his lights, beeping his horn, gesticulating to pull over etc, etc. i think he thought i was right up his arse as he did a brake check on me despite not being near him. anyway after he started tailgating me i unscrewed the camera from its mount and stuck it out the window pointing behind me and he backed right off and never came near me for the rest of the journey. camera 1 - angry driver 0.

(as soon as i pulled in after overtaking i checked the rear view and he was half way over the other side of the road- he had pulled out as i overtook to make a point, quite funny that i had already passed him by the time he pulled out)

Got one of these after seeing your first post - bargain bit of kit battery appears to last for three hours maximum SD card size 16Gb so just about covers my journey, car power lead adapter supplied for the longer journey. Got mine fitted next to the mirror so you can see things at the side of the front wings as well.

The answer to why you look to be going faster than you are is because it is a wide angle lense so as things go past you you appear to be going quicker than they are.

Tbf, there are so many lieing pricks out there that it offers great protection. How many times have you seen/heard/read/had happen to you - at the time, somoene crashes into you "sorry mate, I wasn't looking that was my fault" ........... Fast forward to.......... Mr Higgins, "the other party has put on their claim form you drove into them/you pulled out into their lane/you, it looks like this will be hard work" ...... Grrr, really annoys me tbf. But when insurance punishes you so hard for any little thing, you can understand people lieing, but not condoning it!

i have one of those too plugs into the diagnostic port on the car and link it with android phone over bluetooth, it records engine speed, revs, gps position, gps clock, as well as engine parameters like manifold pressure, ignition advance, etc. you can save the data and lay it over the top of the video

Just bought one of these. A c**t in a taxi nearly took me out today. He was sitting with his right indicator on...... I passed him but had to swerve to avoid a collision as he done a u turn. I want to know one thing... why do these c***s think they can just pull out in front of people and make them swerve and stop cause they have an indicator on??? When i am on a busy road I dont just put my indicator on and pull out in front of the next person making them slam on the brakes or swerve! so why the f**k should they? same as these buses pulling out a bus stop. An accident is on the cards for me cause of these people so the thirty quid will save me a lot of hassle when they say "I" hit them.......c***s

The ones here barge out regardless. I dont barge out regardless ie, you would fail your driving test if you did. I think you would fail your test for driving a bus, pulling out on moving traffic making them slow down swerve..... over take you in a rage ect ect

taxi drivers seem to be dicks anyway, I pass alot along a high street every day and they just pull out with the smallest of gaps, no doubt because they think they are up and down that road all day they do as they please, annoys me.

Buses piss me off when they are still indicating to pull into the bus stop so you go to overtake and they just pull out without changing the indicator direction, taxi drivers also annoy me but i cant talk im a white van man!

pure c**t. I done my CBT at the start of the year, the instructor really hated the f*****s.. i mean hated lol. As I swerved i thought ,if he hit me, he would try and say I ran up the back of him..... I then though this has happened to many times...... Time to get a camera like the one on twatty drivers thread!!
