My EP3 CTR

  TTRS & V50
Well, I sold my clio last November with the hope to find a cosmic CTR. After about 3-4 months of shitters and no car it was hopeless, so I got a MK4 Golf GTI from a mate as a stop-gap. I then opened up my search to Pre-facelift CTR's and came across more bad examples, anyway came across this one last week on AT. Went to view it, showed my interest, but he wanted to hold out for more money. Few more potential buyers messed him about with viewings etc, so now it's on my drive.

Nice little finish to Uni as my final hand in was yesterday -

FSH - proper FSH aswel, every year or 10k whichever came first (95% of the ones I viewed claimed FSH but weren't even close).
70k

Anyway..

Thanks all.

Cheers, yeah going to get some clean plates, might even get a 10% tint on the plates. Also some Eibach pro-lines, camber bolts and FRSU. Gruppe M is long distant plan. Won't bother with Kpro/100 nor an exhaust.

Yeap, definitely the best colour :) I thought I was going to have to resort to nighthawk black.

Re: The new EP3

Nothing wrong with NHB , but then I love black cars.

Looks lovely condition mate..

Definitely nothing wrong with NHB, I love black cars too, but they're a mission to keep in good condition for an 8 year old car. Always nice to get your first choice in colour.

There's a few car park dinks and the alloys are due a refurb, but nothing that can't be sorted.

Some of them are crazy bargains imo. It would need to be Cosmic Grey for me also. Hardly a bad car.

Re: The new EP3

Cheers all.

Just wanted something fun for summer (i'll keep for a few years though), nimble and quick but not a clio.

Everything else is lardy IMO. Literally looked at every different type of car.

Re: The new EP3

You got the best colour bar the JDM ones.

Love a good CTR, thought about fitting the pre-facelift rear lights? I seriously can't stand the facelift ones. So chav.

+ 1 about the rear lights but i think that the front lights look better as well

Re: The new EP3

Yeah the rear lights are a little 'lexus-y'. I'll probably change them sometime, it's still sat in the garage until I sell the Golf though :(

Re: The new EP3

First update.

Not done much since buying it, just flying about. Fuel-log is reading 1111 miles @ 32.78mpg which isn't bad considering I've been VTEC'ing a lot, although all my journeys are long ones which brings the MPG up a bit. Genuinely surprised on the fuel usage, really happy with it.

It's time to start spending money on it though, bought it knowing it needed brakes, so bought some Mintex discs and pads all round at a bargain of £117.99 with free delivering, a well rated OEM disc and pad combo. I also need a balljoint so will get all this fitted together on monday.

Also with the hail-stone damage that's hit Leicestershire, it's given our bodyshop a S*IT LOAD of work, literally in-undated. Unlike some bodyshop's that are writing brand new cars off, we have outsourced a lot of work to paint-less dent removal specialists to go round one by one getting the dents out, yes there are about 100 in each car. So anyway because we have supplied them with months of work they are doing a few of our cars for next to nothing, so will hopefully get a dent free car some next week. Hash tag PerksOfTheJob.

Plenty more plans in the next coming months pending on my graduation job/career outlook.

Re: The new EP3

Same brake set up as mine. It's pretty good but I'll be getting oem brembos next I think!

Good fuel usage too, I wish mine was like that, lol!

Re: The new EP3

I put a thread up on CTR OC and they said they we're both the same pretty much, and BREMBO were £50 extra so thought I may as well go with Mintex.

My BREMBO's on my Clio we're fantastic with a DS2500's though !

Yeah fuel use-age is good, but my daily commute when I haven't got a company car is 80 miles with no stop-start traffic, so that helps.

Re: The new EP3

I suppose it does come down to price. If that's the case I'll just buy more mintex again then!

Was looking at the stoptech drilled and grooved but oem are just as good apparently.

Re: The new EP3

It does come down to price when they practically do the same job.

For some reason I don't like the look of drilled and grooved discs, lol. Massive put off when the discs are on show with OEM wheels.

Yeah if I was to go for anything better I'd just get a DS**** pad running combo. Just like Clios really, no need for a big break upgrade unless you have big power.

Re: The new EP3

Just fitted Ferodo DS2500 on my one .

Amazing pad better when cold and with some heat in it my god does the thing stop

Should have re-thought that V6 after-all Gally ;)

Yeah that is true phillyh, everything from now on is expensive.

I want to get some Eibach Pro-lines, but for that I need, camber bolts and arms and then FRSU. Can I not just wack it on pro-lines and leave it ? adjusting toe and that's it ?

I did Donington the other week with standard discs and DS2500 pads. Very impressed with the lack of brake fade, not a patch on the 197 though when it comes to stopping!

Another update.

DSC_0805.jpg

Had the brakes fitted and have done about 1k, to be honest, they are pretty s**t, wasn't expecting anything special, but there's just no bite really, plus brake fade is unreal. I'll probably get the fluids change and wack some DS pads on the front.

Yesterday I sadly left my job. After 5 years of working in the motor industry, be it bodyshops or car purchasing companies, I have loved it. Nothing like working with something you love; cars.

Anyway, as I am moving to the creative industry as of Monday as a 'Designer' after graduating from University, I needed to get a few things done to my car on the cheap.

So I got my Air-con re-gassed as I refuse to pay £60 + VAT to re-gas it. All is working now, luckily.

Next on the list is dents. Bought the car with quite a few car parks dints in, so both wings, doors and quarters got de-dented by the specialists at work. As some of you know Leicestershire got hit by a hail storm a few months ago and we have a back log of about 150 cars that have about 100+ dents in each, so we have bought a team of PDR specialists in.

It would be rude not to ask them to do me a favour considering how much work we have gave them.

And the results..

I can spot 1 still, but it's tiny, and I got everything done for next to nothing so can't complain.

Next on the list is a 75k service (the biggy) and some Eibach pro-line springs and a geo. Won't bother with camber bolts or arms for now.

  TTRS & V50
Another update, nothing special.

However, was casually browsing CTR OC and came across this little bargain and how people were praising them.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-24-15...ars+Year:2005|Model:Civic&hash=item256d22274a

For £6 delivered, I couldn't go wrong. Ordered them Monday night, arrived on Wednesday, fitted them today, and extremely impressed.

Had the Bosch flats on the 172 and they we're great, but these are equally good at the fraction of the price, I'm not sure how they'll last but I'll just replace them. Anyone with a CTR this is a must.

Anyway, too much chat for such a minor upgrade. So in true style to the post, too many pictures.

I had mine for a year and they started to split! Good price though tbh!

I got Bosch ones cheap from eurocarparts a while ago, just the same really.

Going to be buying some pro-lines within the next month but desperately need to book in for a service.

However where are people going ? Area Motorsport seems the closest and best, however it's basically gone AWT (Angelworks) style-y..

ABP is 2 hours away, which is excessive for a service, although it is the biggie 75k. It adds £40 on the petrol bill for the service.

Fred serving HONDA's ?

Oh, and my insurance renewal has come around.

Going multi-car and it's £503 FC protected no claims with Admiral. Was over the moon. No where could touch that, Sky were £650 and Brentacre (previous broker) £600.
