My Integra DC2

  Clio 182 FF
I said that too, it was a relief at first coming from a buddyclub but after a couple of months I wanted the noise back! haha

Yeh I've had loads of EG, EK, civic coupes & Hatch VTI's, 2 UKDM DC2's and 1 JDM DC2's, even had a CRX VT at one point. The creme dela crème was my B18 (98 Spec Engine & box) Civic EG, everything mechanical on the car was replaced or uprated, what a bloody brilliant little car that was.

So yeh big Honda Fan! DC5 will be my next Honda.

Cracking list that mate, B18 EG6 in red will be my next one :)

I don't want to tempt fate but if the worst ever happened to my DC2 it would be getting shelled into an EG for sure.

As soon as I find a decent unit the hunt will begin!

You got some pics of them?

Yes here is a selection of them that I could find:

Errr done quite a lot since I updated this. Been a busy few months lol. Nearly there now with the build though.

Just going to paste a few posts of my thread on the ITR forum... :)

I got my s2000 clocks back in with my new oil gauges

Then as I went to start her up to test the gauges the car wouldn't start. Whipped my dizzy cap off to find this mess

193DE362-B1F9-42D4-8C4C-5CFEAECC66E8_zpsntwjlo30.jpg

The bolt holding the rotor had came off and wrecked the tips.

New dizzy cap and rotor on the way :)

After my dizzy cap died a glorious death I ordered a YEC cap and rotor

E0292A39-BCC1-4D8F-BB28-96A20B03AC9D_zpsnd6annej.jpg

Quality is superb, very impressed. Came with a new gasket and new bolts too which I was surprised at.

Now something happened which turned a 20 minute job into one that I didn't finish while around 5pm, and made me buy this:

44697542-A7A7-4FBF-B25F-F5D28267E4A7_zpsf2v6ak5r.jpg

It seems my rotor arm bolt didn't fall out by accident, the threads within it were f*cked. I've always wanted to have a go at tapping a thread so here goes nothing...

Bolted in, this time with a spring washer. Hoping it will stop it breaking loose again!

Then I got working to finish my interior.

Will get those fitted to the 98 specs next weekend, and MIGHT have Cadwell booked for the Sunday after :)

Started getting this mucky stuff out too as I was waiting for Lee to arrive last night

Goodbye BGW!! (I have an OEM spoiler for it don't worry...)

I decided to get rid a while ago, just wasn't fond of it anymore. I had 2 offers at £400 but actually removing the spoiler from the bootlid was proving impossible.

In the end, I knew I'd need to swap bootlids, so made a few offers (was hoping to get some cash my way). Impatience got the better of me though, so I let Lee take it away for free, providing he swapped me bootlids. We're one big family on here anyway right?

Can't wait to get on track! Ordering a Willans harness this week, removing the aircon this weekend and refitting the OEM exhaust/tegiwa intake (for now until I get a Twin Loop)

Got a few things done at the weekend/last week.

Fitted my Twin Loop.

Then I collected some goodies from another member who no longer owns a teg :(

I picked up:
[*]Cusco 6 Point Roll Cage
[*]2 Ricco 3" 4 point harnesses
[*]DC2 Workshop Manuals (this is so cool lol)
[*] 4 Hankook R-S2's - Might be for sale as I don't have my 15s anymore :)
[*] M&M Super Tuning rear brace + C pillar brace
[*] Spoon DC2 drop in filter

Looking forward to testing these out on track :)

On Saturday night I didn't have a lot to do so ended up cracking open a few bottles and ripping the interior out in prep for the cage fitting.

Going to go by Toolstation on the way home one day this week and pick up some M10 bolts and some more drill bits.

My dad donated me his old 18v Dewalt Cordless and Dewalt Radio at the weekend so I would stop borrowing his. He probably just wanted an excuse to buy new ones but they're a cool bit of kit!

Until next time...

As the days are getting longer I soon realised there was no need to wait until the weekend to get cracking with some jobs so after work tonight I got a few bits done.

First thing I wanted to do was remove the air con, as I've been saying I was going to do it for weeks.

F91623FA-EAC9-493E-8386-99582FBA9639_zpsmmvecatn.jpg

Was quite easy to do in the end. Bit of a faff just removing other parts to get it all out but I'm glad it's gone.

Next up, I wanted to test the accuracy of my oil temp gauge as it was showing me at 120c after not much driving - scary to say the least.

So, boiled the kettle and got my sensor in my dads favourite cup.

77A235DE-A11B-4FE1-8216-13D8316B0EEF_zpsb1ujnch6.jpg

239A1EDC-7E3A-4BAE-A36D-5748C4B9D596_zps7vrj61zx.jpg

Turned out to be accurate. Rats. Not sure why my oil temp seems to be so much higher than everyone else's but I think a cooler is in order.

Also, removing the sensor with the sandwich plate in situ was a pain in the f**king arse. I had flashbacks of doing the rear engine mount last year, thats how fiddly it is

To wrap things up I finally got my radiator bracket on. For the first time in this cars life (as a JDM anyway) it has 2 proper radiator brackets installed.

7D681EB6-B99A-499B-BF20-F9D8759C1E3C_zpsvxbb5hzv.jpg

I gave up trying to drill out the bolt and simply made another 2 holes next to it :)

AC6F2939-9E35-46D5-85BC-89FB68B3ECD4_zpsvfwln8v6.jpg

I still need to give the bay a good clean but thats the ABS and the Air Con out the way now. I was tempted to pull the power steering out too, but I put it all back together for now.

Haven't had chance to post these yet due to Flickr being blocked at work...

So I messed up my arches at the weekend. Long story short I got a bit giddy and didn't really take much attention to what I was doing, resulting in this.

Looking forward to getting it all together to a decent standard... still a long way off.

The daily is pretty much done now though :)

On a side note, why the f**k has my car suddenly gone so cream?!

13747450674_c767acd304_b.jpg

A picture from the weekend... looking fucked!! WTF.

Time to get the detailing gear out of the garage eh... Sahara Sand maybe?

First off, I consulted "the bibles" on how to remove the tank 'properly'

Out to the car:
DSC_0798_zpsf450fe7a.jpg

This was my spare tank, I couldn't put it in looking like this:

DSC_0799_zps99a92e77.jpg

So gave it a clean:

DSC_0801_zps468ca539.jpg

DSC_0802_zps65c5bf5d.jpg

and a paint with the good stuff:

DSC_0803_zps9827299b.jpg

DSC_0804_zps660ef43f.jpg

DSC_0805_zps2f55dae3.jpg

Now on with the old tank removal, which was more a pain in the ass than I had thought it would be:

DSC_0807_zpsb133ff41.jpg

The reason for changing the tank was this rather large dint which I had picked up when the car rolled off the rear axle stands as I was lowering the front. My trolley jack's wheel got stuck in a grate down our drive and pulled the car off the jacks. I have somewhat of an excuse though, I had gone to work, then drove to Stoke for the coilovers, and decided to fit them that night as I was going to the 'ring a few days later.

Anyway...

Next up I spotted some surface rust what the fuel tank was hiding so decided to give it a rub down and a coat of underseal:

New tank going in:
DSC_0831_zps2d0453e0.jpg

Didn't take any more pics of the tank, and only 2 of the wings, started feeling a bit ill at this point (petrol fumes perhaps )

Old wings off:
DSC_0835_zpsbbeb35b8.jpg

New wings on!
DSC_0838_zps9a9f42a0.jpg

Like an ass I didn't space the wings out like I was going to do, only realised after putting the side skits back on too   So that might be another job for another day...

As said previously Sunday was going to be a clean up day but I didn't get around to it. Luckily I'll have a nice long weekend coming up where I can attend to all the little niggly jobs and give it a good clean for Malton Big Breakfast next Sunday.

Oh, got this to fit too :)

DSC_0796_zps3a6793d8.jpg

Lol, can't do anything on here without Micky telling you how you should have done it.

Anyway, bumper quick release and an engine bay tidy up done tonight after work.

Okay so I stopped being tight and paid for my Photobucket :)

Spent a lot of time today tidying up in the garage

Quite amazing how much you can get in them! About 3 years worth of oil changes too...

Once I got back I swapped the rear H badge for a spare I had

So I've had a cool few days picking my stuff up.

Turns out the mirrors and bonnet aren't original Spoon items but Mugen is! Bought the lot, including a Koyo Ali radiator.

Spent the rest of the day cleaning the car, which is something I haven't done for a very very long time.

Machine polishing the rear quarter quickly showed that all was not well..

Many hours later, this was the result. All ready for Malton tomorrow :)

It was quite late when I finished and some condensation had started to form on my bonnet by the way!

I thought I'd fixed my boot leak but after the downpour yesterday I found this last night:

Luckily I could trace the source as it was fresh

Rather than replace I thought I'd try a cheap fix with cleaning everything up and applying some sealant.

Mimms was epic.

Went down the night before and stayed with this guy, lead singer of a band called Bring me the Horizon, you should check them out...

brilliant day out, was good to put names to faces from the Honda internet friends I've made over the years :)

Had a quick test fit of the cooler (this is where the quick release comes in handy!) ITS A BEAST.

Ordered some Millers 10w-40 oil too, if it arrives before the weekend I'll aim to get it all done. Hoping for good weather!

So had quite a busy day yesterday. Didn't get finished but got a lot done!

Was very nervy about removing the UKDM manifold. 115k and 14 years, I feared I would be snapping some studs.

As a precaution I heat cycled the car a few times whilst blasting it with Plus Gas. Luckily, no snapping :)

The reason for replacing the radiator too was a I picked up an OE replacement Koyo. It's quite a bit thicker than the OEM one.

You can see the difference in thickness here:

UKDM manifold off:
DSC_0288_zpsb359523f.jpg

One thing that annoyed me after doing this was the filth that was exposed in the bay, and my dodgy wiring from the rushed JDM conversion last year.

DSC_0325_zps8b904879.jpg

My dad has given me a few tools, including this ace Facom wire stripper, which helped!

DSC_0329_zps5b2e2758.jpg

What I've done for now is just used spade connectors on the wiring. What I'd ideally like is to get some plugs from somewhere. Any one know where I can buy plugs from? I think they would give it a more OEM finish, and would make removing the headlights easier.

Next up I decided to give the metal a lick of paint. I stuck a vote up on my Facebook and most people said black, so black it went! I am happy with it.

I took the passenger wing off to avoid overspray as I could only find a dust sheet for one side

Also wanted to check how the bonnet release cable was placed as it sticks sometimes... found the problem in the actual latch however.

DSC_0340_zps758dd824.jpg

Next up was to get the oil cooler and sump on...

Sump off:

DSC_0342_zpscff34a43.jpg

DSC_0344_zpsa8cee55b.jpg

One thing I wasn't aware about the Moroso is that it's quite a bit larger than the OEM sump, as can be seen below:

DSC_0345_zpsa49a1df6.jpg

DSC_0347_zps1b5d9213.jpg

DSC_0349_zpsec4b77f0.jpg

I hope it doesn't give me any clearance issues, and will be interested to see how this affects capacity, especially with my oil cooler/lines. Hoping 5 litres is enough lol.

Already had a genuine sump gasket that I bought from Saint Matt/Tegiwa last year
DSC_0348_zpsfc39eb7e.jpg

James Haley eat your heart out ;)

Mock up of the sump gasket, a perfect fit!

DSC_0351_zps0a42262c.jpg

Of course before fitting it I lubed up the surfaces and the gasket with engine oil.

Fitted

DSC_0353_zps7b9e1576.jpg

Next I got started on where I would fit the oil cooler.

Ideally, I wanted it on the passenger side, where it would get the most free flowing air. Unfortunately I couldn't route it in a way that it would clear the driveshafts, the belts and the power steering. Perhaps with more time I could move it over, but for now I had to put it here.

Tapping the threads
DSC_0354_zps5a957d51.jpg

AB45CCCC-7932-4875-8D18-EAEA9FE1B7B7_zpshncjgxrx.jpg

Now this is something I'm not confident on. I could only get it bolted on with two M6 bolts using the supplied stuff. I think due to only have two, I'm going to bore them out and use M8 bolts instead.

DSC_0357_zpsda89558c.jpg

Unfortunately then the rain fell, so I packed up for the day.

DSC_0359_zpsa8fe446b.jpg

I've kept the headlights out, as for one final time I'm going to try and fix the scratches in them caused by aggressive sanding.

B3A51A02-2C8F-4215-B25B-11C2A8A6EF4C_zpsbnyeteay.jpg

If the weather holds out I'm hoping to make progress through the week after work.

Wasn't going to do this but had some time free tonight after the gym so had a go at making some brackets for the top of the oil cooler

I found some old stuff in the garage and cut it to fit

9DC6D01D-9DED-4A8B-9384-D4B68EB1E5D1_zpsa02snbyf.jpg

Ended up being almost a perfect match

Test fit went great so I got on with making the holes and filing down the brackets before painting them.

Unfortunately one of the things I don't have which I would really like is a vice, so for now I had to improvise with an old scissor jack

and today my Federal RSRs in 205/45/16 arrived. Nearly there.

Good god, that was quite the update! Cracking work!

That s2000 speedo and those oil gauges look absolutely epic.

(It really has gone cream - wonder what that's about?!)

Lovely car :D

I got it really white again before Mimms, doesn't look so bad now. Just the gloss white wheels ruin it slightly.

They're going Matt black, either by plasti dip or powder coat - not sure yet.

  DC2 TypeR / E36 328i
Awesome update! Really liking this now..

The S2000 clocks look awesome too.

But why has your car gone so cream?

It's a mix of not cleaning it, using dirty Carbone Lorraine pads, and editing the photos to emphasise the lot lol.

Looked a lot better after a quick mop so will be giving it a full detail before it's done.

  DC2 TypeR / E36 328i
Great work mate! It's looking brilliant.

Lol at the cream paint though!

Yeah I wont lie because Cliosport will find out anyway lol, I made them look more cream so it looked better when machine polished.

Honda boys be like OMGDZ M9 YOU GOT DA BEST POLISHING SKILLZ

Beautiful car you have. I'd have one in a heartbeat if they weren't so expensive for even a fairly average cond.

Haha! I liked the latte coloured version tbh ;)

RESPRAAAAYYYY!

Respray is on the cards, maybe over next winter. Not sure whether to get the bonnet colour matched or not...

Yeah they aren't really cheap but so so worth it. Keeps the riff raff out to an extent ;)

Haha it's not that fast mate. 150bhp ish.

Did a load of work over the weekend including getting her fluids replaced and the exhaust back on. Went for a little test drive:

DSC_0301_zpsdd89753d.jpg

After getting back I started to swap all the arms for adjustable ones. Front and rear camber and rear toe, a total of 6. Got to the last one and the bolt had seized and ripped the full collar out of the bush. Ended up having to cut the bolt out. Grr!

  DC2 TypeR / E36 328i
Looking great!

Where did you get your M and M stuff from?

They were originally from Nengun but I bought them from the man I got my cage off.

Still haven't fitted the rear brace. Not sure if I'm going to fit that or keep with my 4 pointer.

  DC2 TypeR / E36 328i
Okay time for a proper update. Federal RSRs now fitted and a change of colour on the wheels :)

Will just let the pictures do the talking! Big thanks to my mate Will who did a full drive in drive out job in one evening for me. Top work too. I'm not allowed to say who, but he works for a very reputable company in Leeds. Some of the cars in the workshop were amazing, and somehow me and a Suzuki Jimny squeezed in

Really nasty stuff the acid. I'm told you need to be careful of the timing, and if left long enough in there, the alloy would simply disappear! (Ok we're talking a very long time there, but still!)

Shot blasted and prepped:

I went for satin black, with a matt lacquer to tone it down slightly. I originally wanted flat matt black, but was persuaded otherwise... I'm certainly glad I didn't go matt black. This looks so damn good now they've dried.

It was a productive evening to say the least.

Bad news though unfortunately. Whilst the wheels were getting done I got under the car to see if I could figure out where the exhaust was blowing. It's from the manifold are somewhere, but not sure where exactly. Not impressed, it really does sound cack on full throttle at the minute. I'm sorely tempted to just sack it off and buy a brand new item from Tegiwa or Skunk2. I'd be interested to know if anyone on here has either of those?

I was on track today, the car went really well, but unfortunately developed a problem early on forcing retirement, but I'll get to that.

First off, I headed to Grinspeed on Friday to get my geometry done. Stevie had a certain aura about him that I've not met many blokes with, and he had my trust with the car from the start.

Seeing how he set the car up was a shock at first, lasers can be unreliable he said, string never lies...

The car feels pretty damn good. It was way out before, nothing was even. Toe in out camber all uneven etc. All sorted now and drives great!

Sunday came and I started doing a bit of track day prep. I removed my Snap Off steering wheel boss as I was sick of it being so close to my face. Being a bit taller, it stuck out too much.

83E7FC9F-9C9D-4828-916D-42AA7E6571CF_zpsrnsmioq9.jpg

One thing I didn't expect to have to do was to replace my centre silencer. Whilst at Grinspeed I asked that he inspect an exhaust rattle and he said the centre baffle was ****ed to be kind.

Luckily I had a spare B pipe with a silencer on there.

9D8D5E01-EBE0-42D0-89E0-6F135EE9DAE8_zps1l6z7gcr.jpg

I took it over to Slide motorsport who managed to, on a Sunday afternoon, get it sorted for me.

Was a perfect fit as well, which I was worried about with the triangle end needing to be perfect to make sure the rear fitted too. They did a great job!

Whilst I was waiting for the exhaust to be fixed, I had 'one of those ideas'

I went to bed very happy that night, with the car and where I'm at with it it. Today was a bit different, but on the whole, I'm still chuffed to bits.
