My new 172 Cup

  BMW 123d/Rover Metro
I've wanted one of these for some time now and after a some weeks of searching, I came accross this one for sale on here (there are so many bad ones out there).

I'm really impressed with It and It's easilly the best handling car I've ever driven. Anyway here's some pics.

Thanks for you comments guys. I just want it sitting a bit lower and I have a new style RS badge to go on the back.

I'm on the MetroPower forum and yes, we went down to the pride of Longbridge show last month. Are you into MG/Rovers?

The pictures below are of my girlfriends LY 182 FF, my Rover 114 GTa VVC (blue with grey alloys) and a couple of my other mates Rover 100's.

There seems to be quite a few HT53 Cups about. Looking to get some more power out of the Cup soon because as it stands my mate pulls away from me in his metro!

I'm going to get it on the rolling road first just to see what the car is doing at the moment, then I'm going to look into fitting a YozzaSport exhaust with a de-cat pipe.

I know yeah they sit well high as standard but the handling is still sharp and crisp.

Yes, the metro is a 1.8 VVC mate. Last year i had it on the rolling road and it made 147bhp and 128lb/ft torque at the wheels and with it weighing so little its great fun to drive ;)

Just a quick picture update, no changes as yet but my friend wanted to have a play with new settings on his camera.

Enjoy :D

The cup isn't so new anymore but thought I'd still carry on with this thread.

I managed to get the car dyno'd at the end of last year and I'm very pleased with the results, 171.4bhp & 145lb/ft torque. This was just to get some figures before carrying out any engine mods.

There have been a few changes over the months but not quite as many as I'd hoped for due to here commitments but here's a little list.

3/4 number plate fitted to front
Wheels powder coated anthracite
New style R.S badge on rear
Carbon front diamond
Sprayed door bullets anthracite
Yokohama S Drives fitted all round - Excellent tyres!
Brembo HC discs & Ferodo DS2500's fitted along with braided brake lines - Cheers Fred!

The car still disparately needs lowering but i don't want to compromise on the excellent handling, quality coilovers needed £££!

I also have a De-cat pipe waiting to go on, but its a waste of time fitting it to the current cabbage cannon of an exhaust as i hate it and it will be coming off as soon i can get my hands on a BTM Performance exhaust system.

More changes to come over the summer months no doubt. Here's some pictures, sorry about the quality.

  172 Cup
Good progress mate the car looks nice

If you are wanting a bit more lows but want to keep the great handling of the cup i would look at going with a set of Eibach sportlines and four new cup shocks.

Thank you, Ive looked at those springs and it seems they effect all clio's differently. I'd like to see a pic with them fitted to a 172 Cup, i'll have a search.

What's with the four new Cup shocks?
