My new car, 80's bmw content!

Yo

So after making a thread about helping me with a car, I ignored every single one of you  and bought one of my dream cars, a 1987 E30 325i Mtech1. I didn't realise I could afford one, until I looked, found a few ropey ones, then came across the beauty I've bought.

My uncle had one when I was young, and I loved it, every time he went out in it, I had to go with him. And I always said growing up that one day I'll own the same car as my uncle Martin, well, here it is! Only have the photos from the advert at the moment, and I pick it up next Sunday, I'm like a child at Christmas, can't wait for it.

Took it for a test drive on Saturday, and a full check over, had a three page list of things to go over and more or less everything was spot on. The car went through a more or less full restoration 4 years ago, so there is no rust at all, the paint is immaculate, the wheels are immaculate (and there's even a spare BBS!). The only thing it needs is a new radiator, as there is a tiny tiny leak in the current one, but this has been ordered already.

Spec is, 1987 325i sport Mtech1, original interior, which goes as far as the original tape player, original BBS alloys and stainless steel exhaust. It's pretty much OEM which is why I love it so much. For the past 4 years, it's covered 16,000 miles, only been driven in the summer and garage stored in wet weather and winter.

Plans are firstly for a WMS 4-pot brake set up, as I don't know if I can live with old brakes, they seem wierd coming from the R27 to these, maybe I'll get used to them, but I'd like to upgrade anyway. Going to enjoy it for what it as at the moment, and get used to having a RWD car.

Anyway, pictures!

Yes, yes yes yes yes yes yes.

Totally frikken awesome, in every way. Doesn't really fulfil a lot of your criteria, but it's still awesome. Glad you gave it a proper check over, hopefully between Budgie and I we gave you enough to go on.

Yes.

That's a beauty!

A friend of mine had a mint one, until it snowed and they thought they would be drift king. Goodbye E30 :(

cworrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm not one for Beemers, as most will know. But that's no car, it's a slice of 80's memorabilia.

right up there with a red, targa 911

The colours make it I think Toby.

Cheers Rob, it's not the one I sent you, something wasn't quite right with that. Guy wouldn't give me any details when I'd hpi'd it and refused to supply vin and engine number, so gave that a miss, got this from a guy on the E3O forums in the end.

There will be a daily hack purchased at some point, something cheap and 4x4 to get me through winter.

Welcome to the classic BMW club :)

Looks absolutely lovely, 10 years between this and my 3 series.

Mtech 1 is infinitely better than Mtech 2 as well.

Awesome, we'll park them next to eachother then.

Just put together my shopping list, suppose I'll start a project thread at some point. The below will be my first lot of upgrades, mainly handling/brake upgrade wise.

E30 M3 rear calipers - £140
E30 M3 rear brembo pads - £90
E30 325i rear brembo discs - £66
Works Motorsport 4pot front brake set up, inc disc, pads, calipers - £540
Z3/Z4 gear shift set up - £70
E46 M3 steering rack - £100ish

All the above will probably be undertaken during the winter months when it's tucked up in the garage.

Had an 86' 325i back in the day rocking a full mongoose system - god did that sound mental, also it was king of sideways:cool: (no LSD )
