The other night I sent to put my 88spec seats in

However, on leaning in, I noticed the passenger footwell was proper piss wet through. Annoyed by this, I went all out

Ripped the lot out and soaked the car. Turned out to be an old threaded hole from the previous batter tray. So a quick bit of loctite and a 13mm bolt solved that.

All the trim is back in now and she is fired up and ready to go to be set up, as soon as we find the gremlin that is draining the battery.

Oh.......... abnd the postman turned up the other day carrying a parcel which looked likely to give him a hernia

That will be my brakes then

Havent done much since the last update.

Got the car running, but the idle was fucked. Dragged it up to Chorley St Garage in Bolton with the AA man behind me in case I broke down, lol.

Its been set up for now, but needs a proper set up by the likes of MSD or NMS, which it will be getting in a couple of weeks.

My mate is having it next weekend to sort this lovely bit of wiring out

Once that's done we will know if its getting the proper amount of juice to the fuel pump to flow properly, and it can be set up.

In the meantime, will install my gauges where the radio was, so I can keep an eye on oil pressure, oil temp and boost

Diod some r****d have it before you?

I saw the same with Gaz's RX-7. Why can't people just leave stuff the f**k alone or fix it right.

3 in a row I think mate.

The last owner I spoke to him the other week and he was moaning about wanting his stereo back. He can f**king have it. That badly wired sack of s**t was the reason the battery kept draining. f**king speaker wires used for power

It's on the mend now anyways

Sooooo, another little update

So, bottom end seems to be breathing a little heavy at the moment. I am not sure if this is down to where the oil return is plumbed in, or whether the rings are fucked. I will do a leakdown test this week. In te meantime, homemade catch tank FTW

af6fa359.jpg

Then I took to installing my older 88spec trim panels instead of the creamy 90 spec ones

You can see the difference here

and on removal of the panels, I was greeted by a lovely sight

ewwwww, thats f**king GRIM!!! I cant wait to find an 88 spec head lining

On the upside though, my Goodridge banjo-ended brakelines have turned up

That means I can now fit my cossie 4 pots and 283mm grooved discs.......... AWESOME!!

So, had the car running for a little while. Used it for a couple of trips here and there. Had it booked in with my mate for its rewire this sunday. However, on thursday night, the car had other ideas.

Drove to Morrisons in the rain to get some food. Car started to misfire a little, then cut out. Rolled it into a space and went to do my shopping. Got my mate to come tow me home and ditched it on the drive. No way I was pissing about in the rain.

So lay in bed later that night and though "I am sure that fuel computer was beeping at me when I set off, but the gauge said 1/2 tank" LOL. Ran out of petrol havent I.

Next day, waled to the garage, got 10litres of suer, poured it in, and proceeded to turn the key.............. f**k all. Just turning over. Hmmm.

So, I whipped the plugs out to check them

8b0d84bc.jpg

Oh deary me. They shouldnt look like that. So, then took off the top boost hose

98e1d8cf.jpg

At this point, I just wanted to take an axe to every panel

Seems the rain has been pissing through the bonnet vent onto the shitty K&N cone filter, seeped through and collected in the metering unit. As I have turned left into the car park, its all poured into the boost hose and been sucked up into the engine, hydrolocking it, probably bending a rod. So, all that hard work over the last couple of months has gone to s**t, and the bottom end is now scrap.

So I better get stripping it down ready for a replacement engine

b481080a.jpg

1b8c2c41.jpg

I think thast rod may be bent

1e1ed5b2.jpg

Bores seem to have a lip on them anyways, with no hone marks

and as it stands, a boot full of bits

Plan for this week is speak to engineers, see how much to block oilways in another zetec bottom end and braise oil breathers into the block. If that cost is going to be sky high, I will throw a standard 1.6 CVH engine in it.

you just get all the luck don'tcha...

Seems that way.

Mate is dropping of his measuring tool later to see if the bores on my old block are OK, if so, will swap crank/rods/pistons from a spare. If the bores are shafted, then I will send new block to engineers to be sorted

Phil, if needed, I think a mate may have a spare CVH block doing nothing. Will find out for you just in case you get desperate mate.

Hard luck fella :dapprove:

Just read through all that in my dinner. Started off on a proper high, I've always had a soft spot for S2's despite my old man constantly telling me they're sh*t.

And it just got worse and worse.

Gutted.

What now?

Shortlist lincludes

Phs1, maybe another Phs2
106 GTi in Sundance or Blaze yellow, maybe even a VTS in posidean or gold
306 GTi6

Considered an E36 328i..... but they are a little asian.

Basically, I want something I can get in, drive, and not worry about issues. I need to start putting some cash away instead of ploughing it all into a moneypit

I've got a Vts as a track weapon dude and funnily enough I ran rings around e36 238's on first track day!

Super little car, not sure about it as a daily, but so cheap for parts and there's not much in them to go wrong!

Well, test drove a GTi6 tonight. Wasnt too impressed to be honest.

Didnt feel mega fast, and lacked the urgency that the clio has about it.

Guess thats one off my list
