My Westfield (finally!)

  CX-7,westfield,ix20
Finally picked up my Westfield on Saturday!

Weather wasn't the best but this was the last weekend I could manage until after Xmas so braved the weather!

Not going to be able to use it for a while unfortunately but need to do a few wee jobs first anyway so gives me time to sort them I suppose.

This is us picking it up...

Had problems with my towbar so got a shot of the land cruiser..what a beast it is!

Will update with some decent pics when I get a chance to get it out the garage!

Cheers,

Dave

  Turbos.
Nice! Bet the owner saw the snow and wondered how the fcuk he would sell it. There's always someone stupid enough ;)

Actually bought it a while back but it needed set up and Mot'd so just got all that sorted now.

Not much danger of driving it in the snow...got Avon ACB10 tyres on it so would be lucky to get moved lol

As soon as I've sorted the seat out so I can fit in properly I will be takin it down my street though!

Cheers,

Dave

Good work.

Spec?

It's the widebody model (no danger of me fitting in a narrow body!)

Got a 2.0XE with twin 45 Webbers (probably get some carb haters showing up but I've got it as a started project which will eventually be getting a replacement engine!)

It's got an SBD exhaust and manifold which is worth a pretty penny to! Being completely stripped out it should be in the region of 350bhp/tonne so plenty for me to get started with!

More importantly, the handling is pretty well sorted. It's set up very stiff for sprints/hillclimbs and has fully rose jointed suspension etc. Might be a bit stiff for the road and with the ACB10 tyres I'll have to dodge puddles!

Have got some road wheels but they mean changing the suspension set up so will just run the ACB10s all the time.

Cheers,

Dave

Aye, its a pain but need to sort a few things out so at least I have plenty time to sort them I suppose.

Must admit to a childish moment when we got it in the garage though...sat there with the engine running like a chav. The wife thought the snow was falling off the roof of the house because of the noise lol.

Sounds fantastic...with the longer trumpets on the carb and the HUGE filter you can hear it gulping in air!

It's something I've always wanted to do but never had the balls before.

Kept swapping cars and never happy (never enough fun and never practical enough) so now I have the best of both...Uber practical family wagon and fun toy as well.

Hopefully stop me wasting money on swapping cars all the time - I'll just waste it all on this now lol

Cheers!

Would you believe that it is actually mercedes van blue...(Not the official colour name obviously lol)

Nice! Does the value of westfields drop a little in winter? had you planned to buy about this time?

when I saw that and saw the snow, i thought hero for going to pick that up! Then I saw the trailer. Lovely piece of kit.

I just sold my Dax Rush. And allthough it was no where near the spec of yours, it was a hoot. As you say very unpractical, but so much fun.
Yours looks very nice, and iam sure you will love it.

I also know how it is to be waiting for spring. I have just bought a Lotus Europa, was testdriving it in the snow, which was quite hairy.
I haven't picked mine up yet though.

Mark One-the value does drop slightly but not a huge amount to be fair. I'd planned to buy one for a while but had to wait until I had somewhere to put it and then took a while to find the right one.

Ali-I'll easy take you for a spin in it sometime.

Duck-Insurance is dirt cheap!I'm £193 including rac cover that covers kit cars!Got a cracking deal so would rather not say in case I ever come to sell it ;) Some real bargains out there though if you look long enough and hard enough!

Dalla-dax rush are nice.Quite dear to but there are some nice specced ones about!

Cheers,

Dave

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
I'm after something like this, but not in a position to buy until after April payday (18th).

Was thinking of getting a Megablade....but rethinking the bike engine thing - would like something with a zetec or Vauhall twin cam on carbs ideally.

Looking at Westfields/MK Indy/MNR Vortex/Tiger R6.

Really want my max budget to be £7k so it's going to be tight getting what I want.

  CX-7,westfield,ix20
Joe-You'll easily get something with a decent spec for 7k if you look around.

I'd steer clear of the Tiger though...I seem to remember that they are very heavy and the rear suspension set up is often not the best. Not sure if this applied to all models though.

Indy is a good option..nice and light as is the MNR but if you hold out you will get a westfield at the right spec in budget - worth it IMO.

I looked at the bike engine option but not supposed to be as usable on the road and I was scared by reliability issues.

Get a good specced car engine and it'll be no slower but should be more reliable.

Alex-I've got a ski jacket too! Need to move the seat before I can drive it properly though. Will be out at the first opportunity though!

Cheers,

Dave
