Hi guys

I picked up a pearlescent black clio Dynamique 1.2 16V MKII PH2 recently. Has a few scratches and the bonnet isn't great. The front seats have some issues with the runners etc but there isn't anything I don't feel I can sort out so I bought it!

The plan is to build a 182 replica


Everything is standard and I've added a few upgrades already. (Photos below)

obviously any ideas or advice it very welcome

Found some sports interior. I'm away this weekend and collecting on Monday evening so will probably get it all in on Saturday

Had a few running issues lately. The car felt like it had no power until you end up with the pedal to the floor and it flies off! i took it to the garage yesterday and they gave it the once over. now its running like a dream (touch wood)

i have the following to put on

Clear side repeaters (quickly put these on as you can see in the exterior photo above, only took 30 secs)
Super white headlights
super white led side lights
Super white reverse light and new cover

nothing major but i think it makes all the difference

I also am slowly working down the uv damage to my lights to make them clear again. any tips on this would be much appreciated

get your hands on a 3M headlight restoration kit mate

only about £20 and it makes all the difference! if you get it though make sure you get some glass sealant. ive got a bottle if you need some mate, dont mine posting (i dont need it anymore)

is that mcguires(??) kit? i got one of these but i think i may need to an 800 grit work the damage off. i think it really brings the look of the car down and shows it age. Thanks a lot ill take you up on that offer if you dont mind. iv heard that the mist quickly returns. does this sealant counter this?

Having to make the dreaded 'leaking sunroof' repair before i put the new interior in. Im going to use the guide on here and set a side a the weekend of 6th september to take the roof out and reseal it. Hopefully it will all go to plan and ill have the seats in on the sunday. watch this space...

Yeah thats what i heard so i got some of this. just polish on, buff off afew times. mine been fine

But you wanna go alot higher than 800 trust! like 2500 onwards to finish haha

ah i see. the one i got from halfords is crap compared to that. it has like 4 3cm squared pads of different sandpapers and a buffer. thats it!

iv done it all by hand as well but i think i need a drill to bring it up to scratch (lol)

is there a uk kit i can get that has sanding pad drill bits?

the turini's will be on a lower profile tyre they should sit at the exact same height as your current alloys.

Buff on with a microfibre,

leave 5 minutes,

buff off


i gave it 3 coats per headlight just incase

Picked up the interior last night. Cant believe i fitted it all in the car and now it has pride of place in the living room.



I got hold of the sport grill as well. (in the big brown box)

I have set a side this weekend to complete the following works

-Repair leaking sunroof (rubbish job but needs doing)
-Fit new interior (obviously dont want to fit the new interior to get wet!)
-Fit sport grill (im in 2 minds to spray it satin black before fitting) ? let me know what you think
-Fit new LED side lights
-Complete head light restoration

Congrats on bagging an interior! I'd be interested on hearing how you get on with the sunroof. I need mine doing and theres a guy around here does them for £50, i've seen varying times it takes to complete, with a few places suggesting a number of hours, but if it's easy and something i could do myself - i think i'd rather save the 50 quid and do it myself!

I think a lot of people spray their grills before fitting them, since the plastics fade a little. Just gotta make sure it sands and primes properly, or the paint will look naff.

I can't really think of anything mate. There's a lot of things that pop off. Taking out your old stuff should give you a good indication of how to stick the new interior in. I don't think your old seats have airbags in do they? If not there is nothing to worry about

I have the same car baring the colour and the DO have airbags so you will have to disconnect the battery! There's airbags all round the front interior and if you pull the wires under your seat they will go off!! I have my turned off as the guy who out mine in was a specialist and had a renault laptop. I'd say give it least 20mins for the battery charge to where off.

Today's update. Pictures to follow

after fitting all the new interior the car seemed to have the classic clio juddering and stalling issue!! I've run it in but something is not right.

I know it's an electrical issue causing it!!!

The problem i had with the seats was that the connections from my old seat to the new ones were not the same!!

has anyone had this problem?

iv got everything fitted and look to restore headlights and repair sunroof tomorrow.
