mythed about bhp

Have a search on here but im sure you wont find anything about porting a TB, theres no way of porting it. If i were you id take your car to another RR and compare results as that graph you have the figures dont add up, 167lbs worth of torque, that is ITB territory

Yes you can port the throttle body, commonly done on lots of cars, take it out a couple of mm and install a bigger plate.

Utterly pointless though on the standard manifold, as the rest of it is far more restrictive (even a matched set) than the body anyway.
Over 200bhp is perfectly possible on the standard throttle body on a sensible set of rollers.

Speak to a specialist. BTM, 519, TDF......... Im no expert, but 250 out of a NA 2 litre engine seems a bit optimistic without a shed load of work and money.....

there was a 08 vxr went on and made 278 with a full stainless system on and a 05 standard leon went on and made 222 witch is three bhp down. first run with my clio made 189 then second was 178 the thrid 166 but the speedo sensor is playing up so i need that sort but on the first run it was ok

Lol, that sound about right for JDM, you may as well roll dice as use their rollers, lol

On JDM's dyno it should be perfectly possible to make 250bhp on the set of spec that would make 220 somewhere else, so he's in luck, lol

well interal work will have to be done restoked crank maybe the answer.

Restroked to what?

I think you may have just read an issue of max power and thought something you read could be applied to every engine?

The F4R has two significant geometry problems as standard:
1: The bore to stroke ratio is poor, due to too small a bore compared to the stroke, meaning you are restricted on valve area
2: The Rod to Stroke length ratio is poor, due to a long throw crank and a short rod

If you make the stroke longer (which would be physically difficult anyway due to lack of clearance) you would then make both these things even worse.

Its just not worth doing to an F4R, unless you are planning on getting a taller block cast or a spacer installed onto the top of it and then sleeved, both of which are very expensive.

The way to get 250bhp out of a 172 engine is just to turbo it, piece of cake making that power and it will last far longer than a 250bhp N/A one too as it wont need to rev as hard.

We'll see in a month or so ;)

My mate Gaz originally had his ITB'd Clio build mapped on JDM's dyno (by APD), it made 243bhp and 209ft lb's.

It then went to RS tuning the next day and ran 209bhp.

I'll let you work that one out.... lol

FLOL @ over 100 lbft per litre N/A, thats full works touring car territory.

I remember that thread very well. LOL I might have to dig that up and remind Gaz I was right about never getting past 180lb/ft

Mine made 181 BHP with a Decat, Full Exhaust, Pannel Filter and Remap
So either you got one hell of a special Cup or like everyone has said, dodgy RR

Monster mid range torque there Millerin!
Looks to be over 160lbft for 1000rpm or so!

I take it that was an MWM remap?

JDM dyno always over reads.. My old 1.2 8v made 75BHP on there dyno...

Must say im quite surprised its that high, but I do trust surrey rollers.
So yes, certainly must be a good one!

Lol, I meant surprised at the torque figure not that it goes well, your weight might help with how it performs on the roads but it wont change the figures on the rollers.

My mates 1.6 Rs Turbo made 189bhp on JDMs rollers with a tappet stuck in its guide! Took the tappet/cam out and the tappet was hugely delved and cam lobe wore right down.

5psi of boost, with a generic chip.

I think the horses in that part of the world must just be donkeys, lol

Is he still using home made rollers?

Avoid him if you have a Sport Clio. He knows f**k all about them. Made a right mess of my mapping years ago. Nice chap tho

Yes lol. He is a nice bloke but id rather make the trip to RSTuning

Good god, at idle it makes a massey ferguson sound refined!

No knocking the results when it starts turning though!
