Need a lap top for gaming

The R700 is a fantastic looking machine as well as brilliantly performing mate. The top lid is a shiny glass black with a samsung badge in the centre. A beautifully clear 17" screen, and a full keyboard with numpad. I love it

Thats a pretty crap pic there to be honest. I dont work for Samsung lol.

*edit* plus it has HDMI out. I watch all my downloaded movies on my plasma with it lol

I've no idea what games will be played really, my bro is quite into games (it's him buying it)

you can't get a gaming laptop for a grand, not unless you want to play games like solitaire.

I have a £1800 laptop with a 2.5ghz process, RAID 0 hard drives for speed, 4 gb ram and a dedicated 512mb graphics card and even that strugggles to play COD4 at a decent reolution and race driver grid etc.

Laptops are not meant for gaming unless you buy a series piece of kit with SLi graphics cards and spend over the 2k mark.

i suppose what you perceive as "gaming laptop". to some people its max res, max settings with good fps.

to others aslong as its playable on moderate settings thats fine.

but mostly agree with dk, you gotta spend big to get a good "gaming" laptop.

if im honest for gaming id go desktop everytime.

just think, you can get a gaming desktop AND a good spec laptop for the same price as a gaming laptop

I don't think he's into gaming as much as you are dk, he just told me what it basically had to have asked if I could find out, so I thought it ask on here.

He doesn't have much room in his flat so really wants a laptop. Are the ones mentioned no good ?? He's not a full all out gamer, but quite into them.

exactly, these days, most games just do need a decent graphics card, the only games that work well with laptops are things like championship manager or sim city etc.

Something that doesn't rely on its graphics.

Take one of the most popular games of the year, COD4, need a bloody good laptop to play that at a 'reasonable' resolution, not even at high res.

Laptops are about working and surfing the internet really, if you want gaming then get a pc and a psp or ds or something or a games console, they take up no more space than a laptop and can browse the web on PS3 etc.

like i said, i have an £1800 laptop and i tried a couple of games (COD4 and race driver grid) and they just don't work as well on a laptop, my gaming will stay on my console.
