need advice

before i start please forgive me if i have posted this in the wrong section...im new here.....
ok i have a mk1 clio which was a 1.8 16v but it now has a r5 gtt lump in it,now how do i go about registering it with the dvla..i look ed on their website and im confused as to what to do,please help as i really want to get this clio on the road where it belongs

Two options
1) Fill in your V5 with the correct engine cc and codes etc and send it to the DVLA they'll send you a correct one back.
1) Fill in your V5 with the new engine size then send it off them the'll send you a new one back with the correctt ccc then send it off again showing the change of engine codes this is the popular way as sometimes they can have trouble doing both cc and engine codes changed at once.

cheers for that advice but when i got the car it didnt have the engine in it so i dont know the codes of the original engine

You only need to know the new engine codes.

thankyou...i had to ask as the dvla website staes that i have to take the car to a garage for them to look at it and then the garage writes to the dvla to confirm the change...but i dont think my local garage would do this
