trying to fit a 182 inlet onto my 172. i heard some where that you need to cut a bit off the side to make it fit???
and also what should i use to block-off the extra hose take off??

any help would be greatly appreciated :D

I think if you search this was brought up the other day, save anyone having to type it all out again.

However, just out of interest why do you want to? Do you percieve there to be a performance advantage? cause its the lower part of the manifold that you need to be looking at for that really, which is just a bolt on fit anyway

iv already search and cant find it! i bought a powder coated 1 that said it fitted a 172 or 182, so just to save me re-selling it i want to try and make it fit. it looks frikin' awsome too!

Is yours a phase 1 or a phase 2?

If its a phase 1 the throttle body isnt a direct fit etc, if its a phase 2 then the changes are just what you mentioned and should be obivous when you have both in front of you while you are fitting it.

You can block the pipe off just by putting a short hose in it with a bolt jammed in the end or similar, or you could get something turned up to do so more neatly, its not under much pressure so not a big deal to do.

what does getting your "inlets matched" mean lol?

Depends who does it.

In a lot of cases it just means some dodgy mechanic has attacked the ends with a dremel so it lines up with the gasket better.
If you get them from MWM for example though, it means that a recognised expert in the field of inlet and head porting has been right through the whole lower manifold to reshape it to flow better as well as matching it to the gasket shape.
Doesnt make a huge difference but IIRC MWM only charge 120 quid exchange to get this done, so its pretty cheap anyway for something that does make a small amount of difference.
