Need info on coilovers. advantages, construction etc

I'm doing a project on suspension for my course and could do with some information on coilovers.

Stuff like how they're made, what advantages and disadvantages they have over regualar suspension etc etc.

Anybody got any links or know any books that might be of use? Cheers
