need more power in my valver!



  Clio 16v turbo
Iv got a mk1 16v running about 145bhp, its had the usual chip, filter and exaust/de-cat on it and it goes well but i wont it to go faster. Ive looked at the turbo route,(by the way k-tec dont do it any more) but its like £5000 minimum! Do you guys know of anything else thats turbo'd or supercharged that is good for over 200bhp that will fit in without chopping the bulkhead to pieces and will only cost a few grand?

On a valver engine it is going to be a little more difficult to get that kind of performance, there are several 'fast' mk1's on www.williamsclio.co.uk (register then check out the forum) which is where you may find a little more help for the mk1 clios. But the general route ppl take is to acquire a f7r 2.0 engine slot it in with cams, headwork and a remap and from a healthy engine that should be circa 190bhp with a cost of about 2k (not including new engine or fitting). There is a tb'd valver hybrid pushing 220bhp and the 'nana' which is also a yellow hybrid with cams, pulleys headwork remap and thats about 200bhp, it just depends on how much you have to spend and what you are looking to do with it.

Ive just had a luk on that williams website and thry all curse superchargers and 1.8's. idealy i wona put something different in but just duno wot! have you head of any thin else in a clio

1.7 volvo turbo engines are quite common but TBh id rather stay NA and run a Willy bottom end, ITB's with headwork and cams on the Valver head. As said above, you could buy an engine which has already had a bit spent on it form a car thats being stripped so could save some money that way.
If you only want to spend a couple of grand id spend it on the head with porting and cams etc that way if you decide to run a bigger bottom end in future you can still use what you already have.

i spoke to this volvo master and he sed the t4 ay worth the hassel and that it wud be fun to get a t5 in!! would need alot of chopin tho so gave it a mis. whos the fella with a tt lump in a mk2 clio? dya rekon that wud fit mine? i wont forced induction!!!!!!

He just means throttle bodies, and i dont really agree that a volvo engine is a common conversion i may have seen it once or twice in the 4 years ive been into clio's, maybe he is thinking of a 5GTT engine . I understand when you say something different, but whats the point if its just going to cost you alot more for the same gains? Its common for a reason ;)

Ive got a williams2 engine and box for sale 87k and absoulty mint!#

Ibought the whole car of a bloke who works/worked for k-tec! so any work that needed was done there! (Cambelt etc etc!)

Both lump and box have had a rebuild!

Comes with a KTR POWER SYSTEM TUBULAR MANIFOLD cost 350!

Its about 145/150 brake Not a single funny noise or fault!

Perfect for mods! and the differance between the 2ltrs and 1.8s is huge!

Im after 600 for the lot and a px for a deceant 1.8 lump and box!

Can get them swopped preety cheap too!

my 1.8 lump is mint, with mint cond diesel r19 box!! how much u lukin for part ex? by 2ltr do you mean williams? arent they 150 horse anyway? how did that geeza get an audi tt lump in his clio? thats wot im talkin about!!! need like 250bhp!!

unless you could source cheap parts yourself engine/box/ecu/bigger turbo/fmic etc and do some if not all the work yourself im guessing a specialist would probably charge 7k ish (parts/labour/mapping) to do a decent VAG 20v conversion for the valver.

Theres three conversions inot Mk1 that i know of two done by one garage £5k they were asking for it to be done.

Williams are 150hp stock yep.

TT engine is 280hp when mapped up.

Not that difficult to fit a fair bit of work though.
