Need more power!

My Brother as a 172 mk2 and was racing a seat ibiza 1.8t and to his surprise it stayed at the same distance away. Gutted!!!!!(its only got 156bhp it was ma buddy and the car is standard apart from suspension!!

Got a k-tec zorst and a 57i induction kit. Thought about a chip, but read another thread about a direct renault group n ecu replacement. Anyone got any info on the best route to take to rape his arse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers bhoys and lassies chris

Yeah and that Cupra WILL have been chipped to about 200 hp+ for it to stay with a 172! I know that for a fact. My Primera Sri (RR@ 170hp) would rip a 156 Cupra to shreads they really are that slow (no top end at all, my pal has a 200 hp chipped one btw)

Well there is something wrong with that 172! My bros 172 can match my pals 200 hp chipped Ibiza Cupra Turbo (on the 1/4 mile strip and road). The standard Cupra would not stand a chance against a "good" 172 when my Primera was running 160 hp it was even against the standard Cupra is his Cupra an R (180 hp version?)

My Brother does not think it has been going as well as it did before the 57i kit was put on. Surprised as you would think it would have helped the car. Read the clio discussion forum about the 172 vs cupra and now believe there must be something wrong. Shall need to investigate!

Anway does any one know the best route to gain performance for my bros 172.

Anyone got a chip or anything?

Cheers!

open kits are horrid and loose you power. I have tested an loss of 4bhp and a substantial loss in torque with no filter assembly on at all. Get the original airbox on, cold air is essential of the F4R.....its very sensitive. ....for some odd reason.

Cheers. you would recommened getting the piperx viper kit then?

Anyone got one. Are they any good for the 172?

Chris.

most people run teh viper or hill power it, an exhaust (although it accounts of very little) and a chip to suit.

Our conversion cam away with 182bhp, and most have around that. But ambient temps do affect power quite alot......our tests were dont in about 35-37 deg C in Hong Kong so you will probably get a tad more power.

oops, yeah, i run the viper, with 100mm ID wire supported ducting from the front grill, infront of the rad. .....but you can take out the fog lamp.
