Neighbours bad washing skills

  172 Cup
Haha, about 15 mins ago i was playing on call of duty as you do, when i looked out my window to see the guy opposite mine snow foaming his boca negra cupra, so i thought i'll watch him and see what methods he uses.

Any how he applied the snow foam (very thin and patchy ) and left it for a couple of mins, then rinsed it off. He then came out with 1 bucket and what looked like a rag, cleaned the wheels with the rag then the body work with the same rag and bucket :dead:, finished off by tossing the water in the bucket over the car!!

He then put his jet wash away and went in side...no rinse, not dried, and an all together sh*t wash technique. Nice one. I dont know whether to laugh or cry now!

Anybody else seen their neibours murdering their paint work?? lol discuss...

Saw a woman clearing snow off her car with a yard brush during the spell of bad weather 6 month ago. I LOL'd, her husband probably did not

A guy over the road from me washes his car using a brush attatched to a hosepipe. No shampoo, no drying... His last car was an M5 and he's currently rocking a Supercharged XF.

I wince every time I see him doing it. But for some reason his cars always look mint! :S

Ouch an m5 being subjected to treatment like that :(

My neighbour is forever washing his car with a sponge that starts out on the wheels then all over, nice and patchy washing technique much like his chamois handy work.

Thing is he is about 60 and I ain't got the heart to tell him how to do it.
Last time he saw me out cleaning the wifes car he said....

"I don't like mine to look too nice as that's when it will get stolen"

In a way I kind of like his daft logic but the funny thing is it's a daewoo lol

My neighbour does his with a brush dipped in a bucket of water, then sort of drys with a soggy cloth. Weird thing is all his family bring him there cars to wash.

When the sun hits the paintwork its horrendous!

This is bad for your paintwork no doubt, but it's the method I use when there is 6+ inches of snow to clear off 2 cars at 5 am every morning.

Soft brush kept in the warm to avoid it icing up and sweep the top layer of snow off, leaving about half an inch of the solid icy stuff which I only clear from the lights and windows. Just try to avoid direct bristle-bodywork contact.

Some people just don't care?

I can wash a car damn well, remove defects from paint and take pictures to prove it all, but sometimes I just cannot be arsed.

There's more to life sometimes.

Its no worse than taking it to a hand car wash, which the majority of CS do regularly.

i did this for the 1st time last w.end... although they do use something along the lines of snow foam 1st and 1 wash mitt for bodywork and 1 for the wheels then sprayed with a liquid wax then dried using clean microfiber clothes from the huge bin they keep them in

a few years back when it snowed I caught a neighbour pouring hot water over their car in an attempt to de-ice the windows.... worked well to be fair.. except for the crack it caused.

I also am fairly ashamed to admit I was seeing this girl who had a 96 fiesta, which failed to start one cold icey morning, so she popped the bonnet, went inside and boiled the kettle and then emptied it all over the engine..... me and her only lastest a few months...

Old boy out the back of my last house used to wet his Saab with a sponge, and then appear to scrub it with a shammy applying far too much pressure.

It looked MINT :dead:

It wasn't a million years ago that I cleaned my cars with a single bucket, stinking sponge, crunchy old chamois and tipped the water over the paintwork at the end. I then proceeded to apply my Halfords wax with an old torn t-shirt.

The Internet is a comparatively new invention and the information on car care wasn't exactly widely published before then. Older folk are just doing what they always have done - some care and some don't.

Came home 1 day to find the MRS washing my car with loads of fairy liquid in the sun, you could see the streaks drying.
Didnt have the heart to tell her she was a knob, It was pearl black BTW and I had just detailed it about 3 weeks before.

I was washing my wheels, yes just the wheels, lastnight and notice how little car washing I see on my street. Yet most of them look pretty clean from a distance.
Maybe I should find something better to do with my time.
