Nervous 182 puchase, any help?

About to take the plunge with my first car purchase, a black 182 from a renault dealer (just done its first service), but was a bit concerned about a couple of things and wanted to get some advice...
The drivers side front alloy has minor kerb damage and the driver side rear tyre has been replaced with a none PE2 which is on all the other wheels, seems a bit strange that all the damage is on this side, the test drive was good and generally the car seems in good shape, but then this is my first car so might not be the best judge!

Am I being a bit wet, should I just get it bought!?

you get kerb damage with most cars to be honest.

And the rear tyre will just be a budget one from a garage, due to a puncture or whatever. If the tread is decent on all the other tyres, just get a new PE2 and have it fitted.

I'd always get a Dekra/AA mechanical check done if you don't know much about the car. Costs £150, but could easily save you more than that if the cars a dud, or poorly repaired accident damage etc.

if they wont replace the front tyre with another PE2, at least get them to swap them around so that 2 of the PE2's are on the back.. they cant sell a car with mismatched front tyres!

Kerb damage is pretty standard mate. mine were all mint when i got it... OSR now has a scrape :S

Go for it mate... if it's ur first car.. u checked how much insurance is etc

Insurance well expensive, enough said!

The service was the 12K one, I'm thinking maybe I ask them to do an early MOT (its due its first in june), would this pick up any probs, e.g. poorly repaired accident damage? Rather than getting the AA out?

HPI before you buy, if you do anything!

MOT isn't for spotting accident damage:S

Research & go buy private, you will get a better car for less money.

Sorry forgot all cs'ers earn 100k + :rasp:

Get them to fix/polish the alloy. Main dealers for most manufacturors will do this or knock money off for you to do it. Does the 182 not have a full sized spare like the 172, if so put that on and the cheapy in the boot. Try and get a new tyre out of them first.

No spare wheel with 182. As said, MOT won't pick up accident damage etc. At the very least take someone with you with some mechanical knowledge to check the car out. Or print the buyers guide and take that with you, do some checks yourself.
