Net Problem

  Punto/Clio GTT
Wondering if anyone has any ideas as im lost now. At 8pm every night, maybe 10 minutes before or 10 minutes after, my internet connectivity completely dies. The internet is connected, but it doesnt send and recieve packets.

Ive phoned SKY twice, first time they said change the microfilter and monitor it, but its exactly the same, then the second time we got referred to someone else, the line was tested, everything was fine. They said unscrew the phone socket and plug directly into the test socket, we checked our dns settings and all was fine, yet the problem is still there.

All during the day, the internet is perfect, but at night, 8pm, its goes off for 30 minutes,comes back on for 5, back off for maybe an hour, on for 5 and its getting annoying now.

When i load up internet explorer and run diagnostics it says;
DNS Error, is DNS Server Running: NO

i'll run repair, and after 5 or 6 attempts it'll sometimes repair it and restore the connection. Anyone really clued up on this as SKY dont seem to know what the problem is and neither have a few people ive asked. Thanks.

Could be that the speed is too high for your line. If your on the max package it connects at the fastest speed it can but at night the quality of the line isn't as good (to do with more noise on the line at night or something) so it stops working. I had this problem with my old internet and the ISP capped the line to sync at a certain speed that would be stable.

I used to get this problem when I moved to sky but it seems to have sorted itself out now.

I'm with Sky too and get the same problem but it's more intermittent.

After about an 1 hour's session on the web, the internet goes down, DNS errors likewise. Sky say it's the router but I have changed this over.

I'm no dumb ass, as I am an IT pro myself. Suspect as the service is new in my area the circuit still has some vulnerabilities!

Not alot you can really do if the service is new in your area too, just a waiting game I'm afraid or 2 more options:

1. Switch ISP or 2. Hack WEP - I always do it if my net is down! :D
