New 182 Check out the Price..

Ive got an import and AT THE TIME it was the best deal I could find on a 172. I was quoted £13,200 from a Renault dealer for a brand new car, but paid £11,200 at motorpoint for a pre-reg (and no, its no a Cyprus import).

So, its cost me £250 for a cat 1 alarm and £20 for wheel nuts, but Ive still saved about £1.8k by buying an import. I doubt that when I come to sell me car in about 3-4 years time Ill be offered £1.8k less than a UK car. Plus I didnt have to wait at all for the car - had it in 8 days.

Insurance: didnt have a problem at all - and I tried most major companies. Everyone supplied a quote that was no different to a UK-car quote.

UK cars arent any superior than imports (same factory) so why do people have such a problem with people suggesting imports????

"Just out of interest , does a dealer car do a quarter mile faster than a broker imported car??? ANSWER: NO!!!!!"

yes but this isnt the point, we are talking about sourcing a new 182 not a 172, the market has changed since you bought yours and this is what is trying to be explained here.

There is now no need to do the import route as you can source a uk one for the same price.

^^^ hence the "AT THE TIME" comment. i know the markets changed. And 172/182, same difference LOL ;)

I DO agree with what youre saying: I think everyone would rather have a UK car than an import if theyre the same price. But thats no reason not to post up to alert others to cheap deals on imported 182s. Someone might be in a hurry to get one and cant wait 6 weeks for a UK car.

OK, back on topic now :)

6 weeks for a UK car, youll be lucky. Tried carselect today and told 10-12 weeks, nearer the 12 i would guess.

Only real difference between UK and import is delivery, UK 12 week minimum, import NOW
