New 182 Cup owner checking in.

  Clio 182 Cup & 350Z
Hello All,

Thought I'd sign up as I've only had my Clio a few days and I've already found the forum really useful with some of my queries and initial 'teething problems' (looks like I need a heater resistor pack). :(

Although I may regret this as I know from experience with my other car (Nissan 350Z), joining a forum is when the modifications start. I will therefore take this early opportunity as it's my first post to utter the 'famous last words' of "I intend to keep it standard" but in the same breath, as the question "are there any 'must do (quick, cheap or simple) mods that are carried out (such as a clio sport) sticker)?

I wanted a 3 door hatch to use as my daily driver and remembering how much fun my Ph1 172 was that I had a few years ago, I started a search for a 182. I didn't have a huge budget, as it's a second car, but I found a nice black 182 with cup wheels and suspension local to me. 113k on the clock, but it has FSH and the belts etc have been done.

I'll get some pics up of my new 182 (and my Zed if anyone's interested). Is it a case of copying the IMG code from photo bucket?

Forgive me if I do ask newbie questions, I promise to search first! I've already used a couple of 'how to's' such as removing the front bumper to change a light bulb!!

I'm an active member on the 350Z forum and look forward to becoming part of, and contributing to the Cliosport community.

I'm in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Are there any members local to me?

Cheers,
Ian

Welcome mate!

De tango the front lights by fitting silver vision bulbs for the indicator bulbs and clear side lenses (if not already) cheap and easy. Front skoda splitter £11

Get some pictures up as it might already have some bits added to it , yes just copy and paste the code like you say . Get some up of both

Check the regional sections to see what's happening near you

Worth becoming a member and only £12 a year. Will pay for itself in no time as you'll get full access including all the Traders sections and Market place.

Cheers G 172.

Dammit! I've already had the front bumper off. I coulda changed the indicator bulbs then too! The splitter sounds like a no brainer for £11! :) (There goes my 'leave it standard' promise).

well, I've already got loadsa pics on photo bucket, so that's easy enough.

First my 182. Pics are from the ad as I haven't had chance to take any of my own yet:

Looks great (bar the stickers). You will love the running costs in comparison to the zed. Welcome btw :)

Haha, cheers. You're not wrong there. The Clio almost looks frugal in comparison. I really am starting to love the Clio now - both cars make me grin but for very different reasons.

Still not sure about the stickers. Was hoping you guys might help me make my mind up.

Still not sure about the stickers.

I was thinking that.

To me it literally does come across as a rather confused Clio in a Megane's clothes (you might recognise the style of sticker from the Megane R26/F1 - not sure which tbh) and as such doesn't really suit it.

Ahh, OK, thanks for that Steven103, I knew I'd seen the stickers on a RenaultSport car before, but if they're only really used on a Megane and therefore make my Clio a bit of a confused cross dresser, they may have to go.

This is where I need you guys experience :)

So I gave her a wash, clay, polish and wax, while the Zed looked on jealously. Crappy iPhone pics, but really pleased with the results.

Stickers need to go IMO, it's not a megane :). Get one of the small bonnet 'Renault f1 stickers' instead?

Black Gold looks fantastic when freshly cleaned! Park it next to a non-Renaultsport "Pearl Black" Clio of the same era and you'll really notice the extra something.

Developed a wish list yet? A 172/182 cup spoiler would finish that off nicely but if it's a daily maybe put money towards some of the interior comforts instead of looks.

How long till the 182 becomes the preferred weekend B road toy as well?

I didn't know there was a difference in paint for the RenaultSport Clio. There one or two black one's in the station car park each day, I'll try see if I can park next to one of them. All I then need to do is try park next to one while it's clean! Haha.

If I said a wish list wasn't forming, I'd be lying. Have already found the DIY induction kit threads, with 2x 90 degree bend hoses and a cone filter. Plus I want an exhaust too.

I will be upgrading the speakers and probably the head unit. It's funny that you mention interior comforts. Auto headlights? Auto wipers? The Zed hasn't got either of these!

I'm not sure it will ever be the 'preferred car', but what I have noticed already, is that taking the second car out (i.e. the Clio) is no longer a chore. It's pleasure to drive, but in a very different way to the Nissan. And at the moment, I can't help but drive it like a hooligan! It'll wear off soon. I hope!

Welcome to the fold I4N! Nice cars, I have a pair myself although the French one is a lowly 1.2 :rasp:
