New 197 owner in Basildon.

Just been out yesterday at a car dealers and put deposit on red 197 Clio 57 plate. Only got to drive today and absolutely loved it. Can't pickup till Tuesday as he wants to do the cambelt aand service and tax. Really looking forward to getting it. Anything to look out for? Also anyone else got one and know what insurance is like. I'm 28 so not worried about it. Just gonna swap my policy till it ends.

insurance should be ok if you've not been a naughty boy but I'm surprised you've put money down without checking that first.

equally surprised you put money down THEN took a drive in one!

Anyhow, you want to be sure that a specialist has done the cambelt (every 5 years or risk total engine death!), so get a reciept / invoice / other proof of it being done.

Yea I got a clean license so should be good. I have a habbit of buying them before I drive but equally I knew it would be alot faster then my accord diesel. It was a toss up type r or the Clio and Clio was alot cheaper. Plus 7 more bhp. Looking forward to getting it I will make sure I keep the reciepts.

So what stickers or mods do I need? Any best first mod? I will get pics up next week when I pick it up.

Stickers - Cliosport rear windscreen sticker. And no more.
Mods - Nothing to do with the engine as it would be a total and complete waste of money... unless you put a turbo/supercharger on it.
Ultimately, just dont bother, enjoy it for what it is, then when you want rid, it'll be easier to shift too!

the large cliosport internal rear window sticker is good as it does not come off when you wash your car :race:

Just picked it up tonight. Red with tinted windows. 07 plate. Will put pics up tomorrow when it's light out. The stereo was coded took ages to put damn code in. I had no idea u had to use steering wheel audio controls. Loved driving it but. Don't think I'm used too the keyless system though.

Keyless takes a while, but when you get used to it, its great, keys not been out my wallet in months

Got it last night I've only noticed tinted windows upon filing up.

Upgraded the software on the parrot kit today and been down to egg racing to book in a 8000k HID kit. So anyone know how we take the bumper off. I've been told 2 10mm bolts. And thats it. I'm sure the guy will manage anyway. Here's a pic of it.

Looks nice mate. How mine looked when I first got it.

Few more than 2 bolts
2 bolts on the inside arches (can be undone without taking the lining out)
then 4 torx bolts underneath either side, 4 more holding the bumper to the undertray
And 2/4 on the top of the bumper under the bonnet.

Then 3 holding in each lights.

Think that's right

I fitted 6000k into a few months back, massive improvement

Cheers. I had a HID KIT on my old car. It's like u can't go back. Getting it for a good price. Will have to see about joining up to full soon. Cheers guys. Will see if I can make that meet.

Private plate docs arrived. So should be on soon. Also ordered an AUX audio adapter off ebay.

The Hids look very nice and very blue.
