New brakes, should they improve?

  172
i recently got a new front brake setup for my MK1 Clio:
  • EBC greenstuff pads
  • K-tec big disc kit
  • Willy calipers
  • Goodridge braided hoses
After driving a mates standard '04 Clio my brakes don't seem to have the same bite. Mine are definately an improvement from what they use to be but i have to push a lot harder than i did in the '04 clio. Is there something wrong? They aren't at all spongey. I have driven for over 100 miles with these now, they should be bedded in by now shouldn't they?

Thanks in advance

your brakes arnet assisted anywhere near as much as your mates will be, the Mk2 is heavily assisted thats the reason why his seem much sharper.

  Audi TT 225 Quattro
put a few more 100 miles on them, its normaly 500 miles until fully bedded in ....

My Greenstuff pads took about 1000 miles to become acceptable.

They faded when hot, something shocking, now they are fine.

Its true what joshy is saying. Older cars have little / no servo assistance. I remember when I first picked up my 1.2 dynamique from new a few years back. one tap on the break pedal was like emergency stop they were so powerful.

Yeah, as abopve older cars have less assistance, just ahve to push a bit harder, personally i prefer it as the braking is alot more progressive.

Also next time steer clear of the green stuff pads, pagid fast road are spot on, and only £30 from GSF for the mk1's
