New clio GT info

went in my local dealership yesterday to find out some 197 info, and whilst there asked him about the clio GT. He says it will be availabe withing the next month, and will come with a 2.0 16v engine with 135 ish bhp. It'll also come in a 1 off pearl colour, black with a pearl blue/purple flake, half leather seats, and with all the basic dynamique s spec. It'll also be 13k iirc, and an insurance group 12 so not a bad compromise!

Whats the point in that? A turbo diesel 'GT' with 135hp would be cool but whats the point in a tuned down 2.0 petrol!

Well its meant to be a 'grand tourer' as the name suggests, but agree, a high power diesel would be much better

I sell renaults for a living. but even i think that is a pointless excersise. £12810 for a detuned, de bodyworked 197??!!!

I wouldn't say it was totally pointless . Not everybody wants to pay 16k or can afford to pay 16k + all the extras for a car , plus it'll be slightly more insurance friendly for younger drivers i would imagine imo .

it should be a proper GT and have well over 200bhp IMO, GT sounds more immense than '197'.

indeed, just like the S60 volvo 2.0 N/A 140bhp model was just a different map from the much more expensive 2.0 N/A 180bhp model same mite apply even upto 170 would make it a quick car. volvotuning did the map at £250 the price diffo from 140 to 180 in model terms was £2.5k more

LMFAO, the 197 is already a mild 'GT', a detuned version would feel like a Mini One.

There's no GT version coming out. There is a 2.0 138hp engine and 6 speed box going to be available in the Dynamique S.

In my experience they tend to know bugger all about my 182, and that's been out for donkeys years. Owning a 197 must be a disaster come dealer time. Do they even know it's a Renault?

When I take my car in for warranty issues, I have to tell them what the cause is. We really do need specialist Renaultsport garages. It won't happen though. They are too busy designing gay stickers.

id have one for the cheeper insurance.

only probs is that you can get a new meggy 1.9 dci for a couple of insurance groups less and it still kicks out about the same bhp. I'd rather have a meggy.

There is a huge hole in the Clio range from Dynamique to 197 and they have to fill it with something, and it can't be too close to the 197.
A 2.0 petrol with reasonable Torque fills it.

The diesel will come along sooner or later, depends when they get their act together. You are asking quite a lot though as the Clio is seen as smaller than the more powerful diesels, but the range will shift slightly with a UK Twingo.
