New dephaser pulley fitted but now getting rattle first thing in the mornings

Hi have a Laguna 2005 just had cam belt water pump and dephaser pulley done. Now in the mornings after car been left all night I get a rattle on start up only last few seconds. I turn the car off and restart and the same thing happened yet the 3rd time it started nomally this s has happened last two mornings now. Not sure what is Wong can anyone help?

was the oil changed, using a genuine filter and good quality oil?

Hi know it was not changed was thinking should i change the oil. car was serviced last June. I asked fitter about changing the oil he said would make no change. The car does seam quiter and sound odd but car seam to have more go than before.
If change the oil was thinking crossland or guttmann not sure which oil I need?

Genuine filter and ELF 5w40 synthetic oil. He's a fool for not insisting you have fresh oil with a new dephaser pulley to be honest.

Oh right i see. Job was done on sat morning would it have done any damged having old oil in there do you think? I'll get it changed tomorrow you really feel that it will stop the rattle?

what is all the fuss about genuine oil filter?

cheap filters very often lack non return valves, so you get low oil pressure on cold startup until it fills the filter.
Genuine filter is £8, so it's frankly idiotic not to use one
